I know the hardware is a bit better (i think) so performance is better-ish over the One, but is it worth a middle of the road upgrade? I imagine the market will be glutted with S consoles now that the X will soon hit the streets......
That remains to be seen.

$500 might be more than a lot of people are willing to pay at this point. Even $400 is kind of high, 4 years after the X1 and PS4 came out. In the normal console cycle, we'd be seeing big price reductions as adoption ramps up.

If you have the TV and other gear already, it might be worth upgrading now, to enjoy the improvements made since since 2013.

Of course in a couple of years, there could be another console and 4K TVs and AV equipment will be more refined and better values.

Even the Xbox big honcho suggested that the X was not for everyone. If you don’t have a 4K HDR TV, paying $600 in CA as you know is a steep price to pay for cool visuals. I haven’t made up my mind as to what to do yet with my Xbox S 2TB but what GS was offering me was criminal. I think a lot of gamers will be still playing with the S for awhile.

The S was a marginal upgrade...like you can barely tell the difference. Ever so slight load times and framerate bumps...like a couple frames. Nothing really noticeable unless you've got em side by side. I'd just save the pennies and get the X when funds allow (along w/ the TV). :)

The only reason I upgraded my original One to the S is because of the size and the wall mount i'm using for my entertainment stuff. Otherwise no big deal.

Game Stop is launching a game rental service on their used games starting later this month. $60 for 6 months. You can rent 1 used game out at a time and return and re-rent another game, etc. etc. After your six months are up, you can choose to keep one of the used games you had rented at no extra cost.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal. Although, if you're looking for a "new" used game, the pickings could be slim.

Check your Xbox Live Messages in the Messages section of your XBL account. You'll probably find a code for a $5 Microsoft gift card. Found mine there last night.

Nice little early stocking-stuffer. Thanks, MS!

Please. Lip service. These games are the two biggest cash cows in the EA Sports lineup. I'll grow a 12-inch c*ck before this happens.

$60 bucks once per year, or a $10 per month subscription service? Per game?

I can see them pulling some sh*t like that...

That's what I'm thinking too. Subscription. Too many computer based games have been so wildly successful, it's just a matter of time before someone tries it on a console.

Apparently, there is a free trial of the first level of Wolfenstein 2, The New Colossus for both consoles and PC.

I guess I’ll be getting the PS4 version then based on this article, although to be honest based on the early footage, I am not really impressed with either graphics and gameplay.

I wouldn't get too excited. This game is getting hammered with negative reviews. We won't see it stateside for a couple months so maybe it'll be much improved. In any case, I'm more looking forward to Tennis World Tour but who knows how that game will turn out.

Need a solid recommendation for a new 4 player online Co-Op game for XB1X.

I have a regular thing going with 3 of my close buddies with Ghost Recon: Wildlands but we are now looking for something to compliment/offset that game.

It doesn't have to be a shooter or even necessarily co-op if there is a team based 4v4 thing I need to know about.

I was thinking maybe Forza Horizon 3. Maybe getting back into R6:Siege and Terrorist Hunt.

What am I missing...?

The Division. Period.

The current version is my favorite FPS ever. No joke.

Very interesting. What exactly is it that makes it your favorite? I don't quite understand this game. The "RPG/loot" elements concern me. Are the missions and battles diverse enough?

I'll give this one a go. I have no idea what this game was when it was first released, but it sounds like it was a mess. Since I have had it, after lots of patching and fixes, is darn near perfect. The game is fun and challenging up until level 30, then...it gets more fun and challenging. The shootouts FEEL like shootouts. And yes, the missions are quite varied.

Thanks for link and feedback, Terry and Teal.

Spook, I can't even begin to count the number of hours Teal and I have played The Division together online in the last 12 months. Is 50 hours a conservative good start, Teal? 75 hours is probably a more accurate baseline.

I've had more fun with The Division both co-op and solo than any FPS I've played. It's a f*cking amazing game, a phrase I don't toss lightly. The combination of mission variety, story, atmosphere, massive open world, ballistics and play balance is remarkable.

Don't be scared off by the RPG elements. Neither Teal nor I are RPG guys, and The Division is FAR closer to a true FPS like Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six than The Witcher or Dragon Age. The Division is a soft gateway drug to RPGs. Some may want to progress into RPGs from The Division. Others, like me, appreciate the RPG elements added to what's essentially an incredible, varied FPS but aren't running to the Xbox Store to buy The Witcher or Skyrim.

The RPG elements in The Division are no more prevalent than they are in the incredibly overrated Destiny franchise. More window trappings and loot drops to give an FPS some RPG cred.

Teal and I would be happy to escort you around Manhattan to fight any time if you get this game. Do it! :)

The last four pages of The Division thread at OS are another testament to the resurrection of this game in its current form:

Can't recommend this game enough, man.
