Game Of The Year 2011

Thought I'd start this thread since it's usually here by now yearly.

I got to say this had to be the best year for Sports Video Games.

I'm usually hard on EA, but the '12' series is their best batch of games they've produced where each sports title is better than previous years - my grades :


Tiger/Masters 12 - A : the best in the series for consoles

NHL 12 - A- : A Solid game, maybe I'm not giving it an A+ just because I'm so use to it now. Also wish they'd updated HUT and made more team specific gameplay but still a solid title.

NCAA 12 - A+ : another one that's the best in the series.

FIFA 12 - A+++ : maybe cause I'm new to this game, but I cannot believe how awesome this game is. It's got the best gameplay for casual soccer players like me and the quality in gameplay, commentary, presentation shines.


But my GOTY goes to MADDEN 12 - solid A+ title! Maybe FIFA 12 might be slightly better, but this is America and the NFL is our game and this year's Madden does so many things right that I got to give it GOTY.

I have not had the chance to play NBA2K12 or MLB THE SHOW so didn't consider those games. Everyone says those 2 games are terrific.

Battlefield 3 as well for overall...but sports-wise, I'd have to say MLB 11 the Show.

Madden an A+? Is that possible with the horrible presentation? On the field it's good, but not A+ good.

There are so many good games in the last 3-4 months I'm not entirely sure.

I guess my GOTY would be Deus Ex it not only live up to my expectations but exceeded them. Of course I could easily go BF3, Skyrim, Witcher 2.

In terms of Sports if I had to pick a best sports game it would go to FIFA 12.

Ooh, these two for me, too, though I think I'd have to reverse the order. Dead Island gets extra points in my eyes because my expectations were low and it was just a great surprise and joy to play, but I think Batman is a better made and more polished game.

GT5, even though it came out late last year I've easily spent more time with it this year than any other game.

I agree with The Show as sports GOTY. Still the standard in terms of realism, gameplay, and depth.

Yeah, I've put more time into GT5 than any other game this year, by far. Just a tremendous game.

As far as games released in 2011 my sports game of the year is a tie between NBA 2K12/PES 2012; non-sports is a tie between Uncharted 3 and Skyrim (haven't opened Batman AC yet). Honestly, there have been so many great games released this year that it's tough to choose.

Sports - Tie; MLB The Show and Tiger 12. I thought of placing NHL 12 in here but I'm too pissed off at the game lately. If it gets patched to fix some things I might change my mind.

Runner up - Uncharted 3. Sick.

1) Dark Souls....Demons Souls, a great game gets even better.

2) Skyrim...Freaking awesome time suck.

3) Forza 4...Washing away the stench of GT5.

Sports Game: Fifa - Such a great offering top to bottom. Incredible head to head with online features that now make playing randoms interesting.

GOTY: Need to go with BF3. If for no other reason than being able to hang out with my DSP friends!
