Excited.

As of last night, I am still playing San Andreas on my original xbox in my workshop.

Macca00 wrote:Game Informer have a cover feature on the game, some points (from what I remember reading);

i. 3 Main Characters
- most importantly you can actively SWITCH BETWEEN EACH OF THEM whenever you want! Not only during missions but also when your not in a mission and each of the characters live in different parts of the city. In the GI article they describe switching prompts a google-earth style zoom out, up above the city and then into the other character.

For the missions themselves they described a heist where you can switch between controlling the guy climbing down a building and the guy across the street providing cover with a sniper rifle. Likewise, during the getaway you could control the chopper, or switch to the guy leaning out of the helicopter shooting people.

I thought this sounded incredibly cool and most importantly I think it lends itself towards co-op play (though they have NOT mentioned this).

ii. Size
- as mentioned above it's supposed to be bigger than GTA IV, San Andreas and Red Dead combined - but that also includes the interior of buildings so I hope rather than more sprawl they've got more interior locations.

iii. Improved shooting, driving and flying
- not much info on exactly 'how' it's been improved but I'm hopeful they just steal the 3rd person shooting mechanics from Max Payne

iv. The city itself is supposed to be a lot more organic, you can follow people as they leave their homes and go to work - this seemed like bullsh!t to me, I'll believe it when I see it. I know GTA IV had some components of this - in the evening traffic thins out, around 4AM Garbage trucks would be out and pick up would be there but going from that to actual individual NPCs going to work seems a bit of a stretch.

The only bummer for me is that they have yet to announce a PC version - GTA IV with the ICE Mod is mind-blowing.
IGN says the main campaign mode will NOT feature co-op, but made a vague remark about some other co-op mode.

Also, apparently the map is about 3.5x the size of red dead redemption.

That is crazy big as the map in San Andreas is HUGE!

I hope they make travel between points less cumbersome.

That's part of the beauty of the three-character system. Each one kind of stays in their general area, and you can jump between them whenever you want.

This would eliminate a lot of the travel time.

Taxis in GTA4 made travel easy. I even used them during some missions.

Sadly, this guy is a caricature of adult video gamers that is believed by about 75 percent of the non-gamer population.

People still are surprised when I tell them I'm a 47-year-old gamer. "Really? You're not a fat dork who lives in your mother's basement."

I'm not sure what to say about this other than, this guy should learn about the art of masturbation, maybe that would keep him busy until 9/13/13. IDK, just saying, it comes out at a great time, end of summer, just in time for football season, then again, he may be on to something, hmmm......

Those are perhaps the best trailers I've ever seen for an upcoming game. Looks amazing and love the humor aspect coupled with the violence.

I'm always prepared to say I'm getting sick of this series, but it does look pretty great.

Release day purchase for me. Hell, I may even pre-order.

This series NEVER gets old for me.

Eh, I may be getting tired of the whole "pushing the boundaries" schtick with GTA. I would have much preferred a sequel to RDR. This just looks like something that will take me ages to complete solely because my kids would have to be completely away from the house for me to actually play it. And then there's the caring part. Right now, I give less of a damn about any one of those three characters than I did Niko. And that's saying alot.
I just wonder why every GTA character has to be some asshead criminal, drug dealer, or murderer. I liked RDR's story because I could choose NOT to be a dumbass. I love the open world aspect of the GTA series, but I'm sick and tired of the sleaze factor.

I wallow in the sleaze. I relish it.

I'm sure you're shocked. :)
