NCAA Football 12

Post by Rodster »

Here's a preview of the online Dynasty mode.

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/sports/ncaa ... e=previews

Online Dynasty

This year, EA is giving you the chance to take your dynasty online in an entirely different way. Besides just managing your dynasty through the game itself, you can do a fairly extensive amount of management through a Web browser. Things like weekly recruiting tasks, roster viewing, and schedule viewing can all be done online for free. But you will have to shell out a few bucks for more active control of your team through the Web browser; for instance, controlling games through the browser using full playbook support costs $2.99 (240 Microsoft points).

Didn't they already do this, minus charging a fee to do it?

Win win win for EA... it is cheaper to do via the web, they get to drive traffic to their site which means more $$$ and they get to sell you the service too.

I should also say NCAA is my favorite game. I did not buy the game last year. I have not purchased ANY game in almost 18 MONTHS! And things like this make me not miss gaming.

Looking forward to this puppy.

Flawed as it was and will probably be....I had much fun with last years game.

Not only did I enjoy our DSP league but NCAA 11 allowed me to get my first ever win vs the great one, The living legend TC.

NCAA 11 is the best console football game I've ever played.. I'm on season #6 and have played well over 100 games.

Cannot wait for NCAA 12!!!

Time is a finite resource. Maybe I will have time to play some this year..... I do miss it...

Not to thread jack, but after becoming a father, my gaming takes a back eat to my kids.

the same.

hopefully, EA took the time to refine details in the 'create a school' mode (uniforms, field surfaces, etc)

I have two kids and coach soccer, so I know the feeling. When I do get an hour or so to play games, I get a game of NCAA 11 in. ;)

Sounds like they are doing a lot for those custom folks out there.

My understanding is all of the features from last year are still free however you need to pay for the following.

# Commish can advance the week from the web – but only if you pay a one-time fee of $2.99 or 240 Microsoft Points

# You can super-sim your games versus the CPU on the web -- including calling plays, modifying your depth chart, and more. You can also pause the game at any time, sim forward a quarter, etc. Again, however, this will cost you a one-time fee of $2.99 or 240 Microsoft Points.

# Both of the above browser features can be bought in one Commissioner Pack for $6.99/560 MP, and the pack also includes the ability to be commish to up to five dynasties.

Personally allowing the commish to advance without having to load the game is a big deal and it is horse s*** they are charging money for it but I'm surprised this isn't $5 a pop.

I'm going to give EA a pass on this. I thin the infrastructure needed for EA to run a sims of every game in a week so that a commish can roll is pretty huge. More than anything else, I think they want to limit it to the folks that really needed it. The last thing they want are millions of guys running sims from work for kicks. The fee can dissuade some of that, or at least pay for their set-up.

It may be a bit of a money grab, as EA is wont to do. But in this case, I can't blame them. It's better than the $$$ they charge you for using cheat codes that really sucks.

I sure hope the demo impresses me more than the game play videos I've seen thus far. Looks pretty much exactly the same as last year, and of course the commentary is bland as ever!

wow. It seems early for NCAA.

if they fixed/corrected 'Create A School' (reflecting the different field surfaces for your stadium) this year, and left the ESPN presentation/announcing team in the game (hey it's EA i don't aim very high), then will be satisfied with this year's offering. Really liked NCAA 11. In particular the gameplay engine, and graphics.

addition of a broadcast camera would be welcome, as well

Nothing mouth watering. Played a couple of matches, the field texture looks meh, if you still have 11 like I do and adjust a few sliders, I don't think I will go with 12 this year. I didn't see any significant upgrade on the demo. Spreading the run with the Oregon offense was a lot of fun. 8)

See, I saw something completely different. I didn't have a single suction block against me in a couple of matches. I was able to shed blocks and get around blockers without once getting sucked into a cheap block or tackled to the ground. The cuts and moves seemed a lot crisper to me. It actually impressed me more than I thought it would.

this is probably unfair since I'm not into the football mood but only thing I noticed was you could see the blades of grass this year. The gameplay was sort of boring to me. Maybe I'll be more excited later next month.
