For me it's the only thing that would be somewhat satisfying at this point. If they were in league for a long time, he has given stupid advice to cause friction and have them all kill themselves off so she could rule. That would be a nice twist and at least make some of this BS come together. However I don't think the writers are that clever. The moment Jon Snow rose from the dead, he was sitting on that Throne in their eyes is my guess. Making Danny turn into the Mad Queen just gives them a reason to give it to him.

They couldn't un-fuc& that which they had already fuc&ed, but the resolutions were ultimately ok with me. Every episode this season should have been at least 2 episodes, and this was no exception. The tonal change between the "two" episodes, from Dany's death to yucking it up at the council meetings, was far too jarring.
