NBA2k11

Post by GTHobbes »

Surprised I haven't seen any talk about this one. I'm not a basketball fan by any stretch but LOVED last year's game, and I've been impressed with everything I've seen about this year's improvements. Anyways, according to reports today, the demo for the game is due to be dropped next week.

It's still a month away from release and all of these pre-release threads turn into a damn cluster-f*ck...so why bother starting one? At least that's why I didn't. I love the NBA game season...I'm really interested in NBA Elite this year (NBA Live). It was significantly improved last year, but couldn't quite surpass 2k...so maybe this year they make the leap over at EA.

I enjoyed Live last year but for me NBA 2K got more playtime. I'll try the Elite demo but will probably go with 2K11 even though I hate that clusterf**k of their user interface. I thought they couldn't top NBA2K7's interface and those SOB's proved me wrong. :P

Liekd both games last year, but 2k was way better IMO.

Hasn't it been like this for at least the past couple of years?

Last year, they were suppose to have definitely fixed the problems from the previous year.

But I just heard complaints and the OTP mode never has worked right, apparently.

In this day and age, can a sports game get by just with a singleplayer mode and unreliable online mode? The Show apparently has this problem too.

I really liked Live last year as well, but the early word on Elite is that it might be a step back from last year. The videos at OS have been kind of disappointing.

I've been excited by what I'm seeing again from 2K with regards to playbooks, tendencies, etc. And we know the presentation can't be touched.

That's good. Maybe they eventually worked it out. I know the team play was laggy. Also saw lots of complaining about the limited camera angles, etc. I've taken a couple years off from 2k. prob a good time to jump back in.

Yowzer, too early to tell but it looks like they are using a new interface. 8)

One other thing I noticed for us Hoops challenged players like myself. There's a new icon which tells you which is the best angle to cut off a players movement.

Heard it's really stripped down -- only one 4 min quarter? Also, you can ONLY play as the Lakers. No commentary, replays, play-calling.

Anyone know when the PS3 demo is supposed to drop?

We'll see the PS3 demo around 5 or so central time. Hopefully, like last year it plays in 1080p.

I hate professional basketball. Since their are no longer any college games I guess my basketball video game days are over.

I wish you could adjust the camera, difficulty and they allowed you to play either 2 or 4 qtrs.

Or you go get NCAA Hoops 2k8 and enjoy the hell out of it. They update the rosters each year and it's still a pretty damn good game.

I hate it too, but I LOVE this game. I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the gameplay is just too fun..

I still have it and honestly I enjoyed EA's game last year except it freeezes all the time so it is unplayable and they never patched it.
