DSP Madden Online Franchise Season 2 thread

Post by Jared »

Game Time
12 Min
20 second run off.

DATES
Starting on Sat. 8/29 anyone can start making FA claims, see the rules on pages 2 or on the OF site.

1st week games start Sunday 8/30 and then we will flow into this schedule.

SIM SCHEDULE
Every 5 days

RULES
Final Rules(pdf)
http://www.maximumpixelation.com:81/res ... 0rules.pdf

FREE AGENT POINTS
Each team will have 10 Free agent points per season to use to sign free agent and make roster moves. These points are for in season moves only. If you need to fill a roster spot and are out of FA points you will be granted the lowest rated player at the position you need.

FREE AGENT BIDS
To make a Free agent bid post in the FA thread. Claims should go like this:

Free Agent Claim: Players name – Points Bid
Example: Free Agent Claim: Mike Wahle – 2 points

Each claim should be its own message. Once posted other league members can up your bid, a bid must stand for 24 hours to become final. All message on the site are time stamped, once the bid wins you can then move the player to your roster.

IR
If a player is injured for 6 weeks or more they may be put on IR. To place a player on IR you must first successfully complete a FA Bid listed above to claim a new player. Once you do that then simply post a message that a player that was released is now on IR. At the seasons end you can then release players to move IR players back on your roster.

TRADES
1. All trade requests with the cpu must be put in the appropriate thread on the message board. Then the league board will vote on the trades fairness. If it’s a board member proposing the trade, we will have a 3rd party vote from outside the owner division.
2. No trades after week 6 (hopefully that's part of the game code)
3. You may not trade a player back to it's original team.
4. For now no trading of draft picks outside of the upcoming year.
5. You may not trade more then 3 draft picks.
6. Empty roster spots due to unbalanced trades need to be filled with Free agents and are bound by Free agent rules (see above)

CONTRACTS / FREE AGENT DRAFT - UPDATED
There is no idea of contracts, hold outs etc. We're going to keep this one pretty simple. Before moving to the next seasons draft we will hold an ad hoc Free Agent Draft.

Each team will be required to released to Free Agency 4 players (NO KICKERS). They need to be rated as follows.

1 player rated 80 or higher overall. (i.e. a player rate 80 counts)
1 Player rated 70 or higher overall.
2 Players rated 65 or higher overall.

These are the minimums if you want to release 1 guy who is an 84 and then 3 players at 76, 79 and 82 that's up to you. If for some reason you can't meet the minimums then God your team sucks, but you have to do your best to meet them. I wo't even give an example because it shouldn't occur.

This is an FYI without going into details.

I did not let the Human vs CPU trade go through. I let the owner know in a PM and gave him an explanation of why. I thought it was important enough to let others know as well in case people are planning to try to trade with the CPU.

1. I am going to be extra cautious before approving any CPU trades.

2. Trading players of equal value is of course a good start but you need to look at it from a positional and age basis as well.

For example would a team trade their #1 CB while they are only carrying 4 CB period even if the player would upgrade one position. Would they do it if the player upgrading the position is older then the person he is replacing?

It seems clear the CPU teams don't handle their rosters well. KC last night had the worst punter I have ever seen, he was punting the ball like 30 yards. Seattle has 4 CB and only 7 DB on their roster. If they lose one or two to injury they are screwed.

Just keep these things in mind if attempting a trade.

Also Trade deadline is week 6.

The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans make a trade just days before their season openers.

The Texans send WR Kevin Walter (78 OVR) to the Titans in exchange for Tennessee DT Tony Brown (77 OVR).

The trade gives the Titans a sure-handed possession receiver in Walter, while the Texans receive a versatile, three-down defensive tackle. Walter will likely have more reception opportunities in Tennessee, where he will no longer be under the shadow of Andre Johnson and tight end Owen Daniels. He'll provide quarterbacks Vince Young and Kerry Collins with a possession option to complement speedy receiver Nate Washington.

Brown will go from back-up to immediate starter in Houston. He'll take his place next to RDE Mario Williams and opposite DT Amobi Okoye and LDE Antonio Smith. The move plugs a hole in what is now one of the league's more formidable defensive lines.

--

Todd, I'll drop Walters to the FA pool tonight so you can pick him up.

I knew it was going to happen one day but I hoped it wouldnt be soon...After being perfect vs them last season the Rams fell victim to a cpu team. The CPU Saints obliterated the seemingly unready and badly coached Rams 38-21....

It was looking like a pretty good cpu game with the Rams holding a 14-13 lead until early in the 3rd qtr. Then it happened. The EA curse struck.
Yeah you guessed it. Steven Jackson was knocked out of the game.
After that nothing but crickets could be heard eminating from the Ram's coach's head. ...yeah what new?

Robo Drew Brees would not be stopped throwing for over 400 yds and leading the Saints to 10 for 14 on 3rd down conversions. Couldnt get the bastard off of the field.
Was there a Saints patch?..... :P

Back to the old drawing board as there are 15 glorius game left to play.
This game rocks!

Just a reminder even if you just save the replays and then tell me your EA sports world name, I can add you as a friend and go grab them myself. The OF video highlights have no option to save.

Dolphins open up with a sloppy 38-10 victory over the Detroit Lions.

The Dolphins opened up their season with a sloppy victory over the Lions. At the half, the game was tied 10-10, in a match where the Dolphins were plagued by fumbles and poor play. However, a solid second half resulted in 28 straight points. Ronnie Brown had 14 rushes for 123 yards, including a 61 yard touchdown run. First round draft pick B. Trammell had five receptions for 102 yards. Pennington had a lackluster game, going 15-23 with 213 yards and a touchdown. And finally, Tim Tribow made his debut in the Wildcat, with 8 rushes for 22 yards; and one completed pass.

The good news is the Colts opened the season with a 41-7 thrashing of the Jags in Jacksonville. Peyton Manning threw 4 touchdowns and the Colts defense had 4 interceptions. Jones-Drew was taken out of the game early and the Jags offense as a whole was completely ineffective throughout the game. Their lone touchdown came on a Manning interception which he responded to by throwing a 70-yard touchdown to Garcon on the very next play.

The bad news is I was disconnected from the EA servers late in the 4th quarter up 34-7 so it didn't count. XXXIV was online at the time and can vouch that I was up 34-7 at the time so nobody questions why I have to play the game again. Why the f*** can't EA do a quick save of the OF games so games can be resumed? Is it really that difficult? Or even letting the commissioner input results would be nice. It's frustrating to lose an effort like this and an hour of my time.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Pittsburgh opens up their season with a 45-12 win in Tampa Bay. Willie Parker was player of the game finishing with 14 carries for 212 yards rushing and 3 tds. Rookie first round running back Leron James finished with 16 carries for 70 yards and 2 tds. Ben Roethlisberger was 7 out of 13 for 135 yards with no tds and 1 int. Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman was 20 out of 27 for 256 yards with no tds or ints. The Steeler defense came up big and kept Tampa Bay out of the endzone and only allowed 4 field goals.

Some highlights from the game for Pittsburgh:

Late in the first quarter Arnold Harrison returns a Tampa Bay fumble 20 yards.

McNabb Roos headline 11 Player Deal

It's official. The Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans completed the largest trade in DSP Official League history Friday night. Philadelphia parts with 5x Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb, legendary Running Back Brian Westbrook and Corner Back Asante Samuel. In return the Eagles get Left Tackle Michael Roos, Free Saftey Michael Griffin along with veterans Keith Bullock and Kevin Mawae. After the trade the Eagles also fired Head Coach Andy Reid.

The news came as a shock to many Eagles fans and experts alike.

“You don't trade franchise QB's and RB's for LT's and C's, not in Madden. I don’t care how good or young those guys are, you just don’t do it." said longtime football expert Geno Herbstreet.

The Eagles front office released this statement.

"We'd like to thank the Tennessee Titans for their diligence and effort to complete this trade. Ultimately we feel this move will help both teams. The Titans can pursue a world title now and we can start our rebuilding process. Michael Roos and Michael Griffin help us for the next 7-10 years."

Andy Reid's days seemed numbered last year after the team failed to develop a solid running game and get the team deep into the playoffs. The Eagles lost a very close game in the NFC Wildcard round to eventual NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons. There is also speculation that the move to trade Asante Samuel was based on the Eagles frustration in the brash cornerback’s comments to opposing teams.
The Eagles and Titans play in week 3 in the upcoming DSP Official Season.

Cowboys open season with 26-3 win over Falcons.

Tony Romo completed 17 of 23 passes for 172 yards and a crucial 4th down TD pass to Jason Witten as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the anemic Atlanta Falcons 26-3 at the Georgia Dome.

Miles Austin caught 6 passes for 88 yards and Jason Witten had 5 catches for 49 yards and the TD that blew the game open in the 4th quarter. Facing 4th and 2 at the Falcons 4 yard line and clinging to a 12-3 lead, the Cowboys decided to go for it and Romo found Witten in the left side of the end zone for the clinching TD. Following the ensuing kickoff, Terrence Newman picked off a 3rd down pass and took it the distance for a touchdown giving the Cowboys their final margin of victory.

Felix Jones led the Cowboys rushing attack with 7 carries for 40 yards. Marion Barber added a rushing TD.

Tied 3-3 in the third quarter, Jay Ratliff broke free and tackled Matt Ryan in the end zone for a safety to put the Cowboys ahead for the first time with a lead that they would never relinquish.

Michael Turner was the only bright spot for the Falcons as he rushed for 82 yards on 16 carries. The Falcons could only manage 129 total yards against a very stingy Cowboys defense. The Cowboys move on to face the Redskins next week.

I uploaded a couple of highlights but don't have a clue how to post them here.

I take it back...it will have to be early afternoon or we'll squeeze it in late on Sunday or during the week. I was reminded that I have an engagement to attend with the wife tomorrow evening. That one shouldn't run particularly late, but 6PM is right in the middle of it.

Sorry Mac.

If I had a nickel for every time my wife reminds of "an engagement" that I've forgotten about I'd be a rich man :) No worries. Let's go for late Sunday evening or during the week. 9pm PST on Sunday?
