It's $15 and I'm still undecided.Naples39 wrote:I have been torn about picking this one up. I played BF1942 on PC, but never really got into it like other games. Still this is only $10 and could be fun.
I'm curious if anyone else here is getting it though.

Consider it a 'lite' version of 1942 on the PC.Spooky wrote:Had no idea about this. I'm sold. Thanks for the heads up.
Is this a completely new game?
4 maps (one will unlocked later and it's strictly dogfighting in planes)
3 classes of soldier
All multiplayer. No singleplayer.
Max of 24 online. 12 per side.
Downloadable only. No disc.

Could be. There's a message going across the game saying that they are adding extra servers right now. Must've gotten overrun.Sport73 wrote:Didn't see it on XBox??? Did it get pulled?Murph wrote:Now on XBL Arcade and tomorrow on PSN.

I'm downloading now.
When I went to game marketplace and browsed 'new arrivals' and 'all games' under B it wasn't there and I was beginning to think it wasn't available, but then I found it as the 4th or 5th item over from the game marketplace main menu.
Not sure why that is the case but maybe you guys can find it there too.

Yeah, it's not in the 'Arcade' section.
I hope they add the servers soon, because I tried from 4:30pm today, and never got in a single game. 4 of us tried to start a private match...nope. Gotta have 16 to play.
Server issues need to be resolved...quickly.

For those who can't find it you can also sign onto xbox.com and add it to your download queue that way.

So, the first night was completely FUBAR in terms of getting into a game. Just no go. But from playing around in the tutorial, I feel like all the fundamentals are very, very good. The vehicles are great, and the planes are awesome. They are realistic enough and difficult enough to keep the impatient ones away. I love the rudder on the L-stick setup, it's just very good. And the airstrike gameplay is pretty darn cool, too.
Anyway, yesterday in the evening I tried again, and after a few tries I got into a game. WOW! My initial impressions are that it's a lot of fun and that I really, really suck. What's wild is that in my first few matches even though I had zero or 1 or 2 kills, I was still in the middle of the pack as far as score, because I was doing some useful stuff as far as capturing zones. Teamwork would be very handy, but it is tough when on your own in a room with no one you know. You can split into individual 4-man squads, which maybe has to do with voice chat, I don't know.
I love the hilliness of the maps. They aren't gi-normous, but they are pretty darn big, as they have to be if you have jeeps and tanks on hand to get around. The planes are fun as heck, and it's crazy how low you can fly and how fun that feels. But I don't last long in the planes, as I screw up and crash or I get shot down pretty quickly. I can see dogfighting being very fun once I get more accustomed to the controls.
Private games with our crowd should be lots of fun. The 'matchmaking with friends' option seems to be a basic party system, so I am hopeful it works.
