Temple Run 2 is a decent follow up.

If you're one of the 4 people who don't feel like they've had enough Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio is currently free.

Also, I am being super-cheap and waiting for a sale on Joe Danger, which everyone seems to love.

Does that game require in-app purchases to enjoy?

No, you can either grind and level up or if you want the easy way you can buy gems via IAP. Wasn't the first Temple Run the same way?

Does anyone here play Le Havre? A board gaming friend of mine convinced me to get it because he really likes the original and thinks the iOS implementation is excellent. I assume it has asynchronous online play so it'd be good for me to have other folks to play if anyone has it.

Also summoners war. Scoop is beating me up all the time in that one but if anyone else has it it'd be nice to have other opponents.

For those that like the Pinball Arcade series, they've released Table Pack 8 for iOS and Android. This pack includes Attack From Mars and Genie. Not the two best tables compared to others, IMHO, but I love the fact that FarSight keeps adding tables.

Battlefriends at Sea is absolutely awesome. Battleship type game...been playing the hell out of it recently. It's only multipayer, but it's cross platform and works well.

This is looks like an innovative feature, and one consoles could take note of; AI cars to race against based on friends' actual laps. Improvement on ghost racing?

Real Racing 3 is out and the game looks amazing, The controls are spot on as well. Typical EA game weighing in at 1.8GB.

I'd be very interested to know whether this Real Racing 3 review rings true, Rod, particularly the final paragraph:

It's completely true. It's been b*tched about on various forums/podcasts. You have to play the F out of the game to get any cars worth a damn. Or you have to pay for them. Freemium my ass.

Yeah Adam what DB said as well as Eurogamer is true. It's the freemium app from hell. I should have qualified my comments. I should have mentioned that. I was just taken back by how nice the graphics look. They sort of remind me of NFS Shift graphics on the console. The cars really handled well and were easy to control. Too bad it was ruined with EA's micro-micro transaction from hell.

One of my favorite iPad games, Kingdom Rush, gets a sequel today.

There has been some other noteworthy news recently too;

-SW:KOTOR released for $10.
-Plants v Zombies 2 next month.
-Contra Evolution (NES re-make with purdy graphics) for $1.
-XCom port looking good; http://toucharcade.com/2013/05/30/more- ... -for-ipad/
-Frozen Synapse for $7

If they really wanted to push this, they should come out with their own controller, something that is likely to be sold in high volumes, so developers have an incentive to support it.

Actually, I wonder if this isn't like 2-3 years too late. Then again, with consoles pushing more restrictive DRM policies or charging for online play, more people might look at mobile gaming now.

I posted this yesterday in the Apple,, Macs, New Products thread. I understood it to mean Apple was simply adding API for third party Bluetooth controllers and not necessarily an Apple-official controller.
FTR and JMHO, but playing games using a virtual D-pad on a touchscreen is a painfully awkward experience. This can't come soon enough for me.

Listening to a podcast interview with the developers of Your Turn Football. Sounds like a turn-based head to head game with a lot of in game purchases, though supposedly you can get a lot of upgrades by playing.

Screens look really basic, like the old Ten Yard Fight arcade game with the top-down view.

No license but it has iOS to Android cross-platform play. One of the guys worked on High Heat and claims the results will be statistically believable. You'll get punished for cheesing, like going for it on 4th downs and you can only onside kick when the situation is valid. Apparently it's a one button interface.

I finally broke down and bought my first iOS game. I got Infinity Blade II for 99 cents. Wow great looking game. It's crazy to think what you can pull off on a tablet. 8)

Has anyone tried EA's Real Racing 3? That's another game that looks incredible on the iPad.
