Quite a few things on sale.

Bastion, Fieldrunners games, Colin McRae Rally. Apparently holiday sales are the thing for iOS.

I am still seeing CMR at $4.99. When does the sale start?

It was $2 last night, but back to $5 this morning. Weird.

Either way, it crashed when I tried to open it. :(

Yup, I was tempted to buy it and read the reviews. A lot of people who bought it complained about not being to play it due to constant crashes.

I downloaded "abcNotes" which went free yesterday. If you love making notes and reminders you'll this app. It has a crazy amount of customizations from fonts to different style layouts. It's much better than the built in apps that come with the iPhone or iPad.

I read that PvZ 2 will get released as a freemium in the next couple of weeks. Supposedly EA is tweaking the in game purchases.

When it was released in Austria I created an Australian account so I can download it. The game is a blast and I don't feel like the micro-transactions have ruined it. You don't need to buy items to continue on, which is good. Who knows as I progress if that will change.

Downloaded Plants vs Zombies 2 today. With some special powers it's double the fun, I don't see myself buying the extra coins right away, but the game is so damn good that I will eventually pay $3-4 bucks in the future. Game is worth at least that much.

In one of Apple's 12 days of gifts, I DL 'Tiny Thief' a fun, creative, puzzle game with nice visuals. My daughter can't put it down and the game usually sells for $2. Well worth it, free today!

You can grab 'Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour' for free courtesy of Gameloft and IGN. Game is usually $7 and it usually provides a good shooter experience on a mobile device with great visuals. You can get the code straight from the IGN website.

Anyone try that Clans game they're advertising all the time?

Presume it's some kind of RTS game.

I assume you are referring to Clash of Clans? My kids are obsessed with that game. I haven't tried it but it looks like your standard strategy/tower defense game. You start with a tiny village and add troops, fortresses, etc. You can raid other players clans and once you reach a certain level you can join forces with other clans to help you out. It's a freemium game but it looks like you can still have fun and advance in the game without having to spend money.

Probably my most played iOS game got a sequel today, Mad Skill MX 2. Fast paced, and completely addictive. In the old game, I would have hundreds of attempts on some courses, trying to hit jumps perfectly and shave time in public track-of-the-week tournaments.

The new version is free, with some very optional IAP.

Do you need to buy better bikes to be competitive online?

I haven't gotten that far yet. In MX1 there was only one kind of bike.

I do believe all bikes in the game can be unlocked by playing through the SP though.

Nothing all that exciting other than a 5K iMac and a refresh of the Mac Mini. Cheap bastards kept the iPad's at 16GB and dropped the 32GB. They probably figured out no one would upgrade to the 64GB. Yosemite is out today. I'll check that out.

Wow, what a nice job Apple did with Yosemite. I love the new look but most importantly I like how they integrated the design with iOS. Now you sign in with your Apple ID and it's tied to your account and it even has find my Mac where you can disable or lock it if it's stolen.

So far it's pretty quick, Safari is a nice upgrade.

Find my Mac is not new.

My iMac is still running 10.8 and its on there. My iPhone 5s is still on iOS 7 and sees it.

I have some iOS apps and os x applications which are not compatible with the latest OSes, including my photo software.

Being able to answer phone calls on my iMac is not a big enough draw for me to upgrade and lose the compatibility.
