THE very definition of vaporware...unless, of course, Bethesda or Rockstar buys the rights and releases it for Take2. I'd be surprised if anyone would pony up the bucks for the naming rights, regardless, seeing as most teenagers probably never played a single Nukem game and most of the original fans moved on to other FPS games long ago.

They should bury all the development materials next to the E.T. cartridges.

"Captain, iceberg, dead ahead"
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."

I think most of the original fans have grandchildren by now! ;)

Haha

I don't know what is funnier that he kept the receipt or didn't cancel the pre-order.

Probably Gamestop getting free money to collect interest on for 8+ years. Funny in a sad sorta way.

It is amazing to realize that this game was so delayed and with such a fall from grace that it did not even get a mention in the DSP forums when it was finally released this Tuesday. Did anyone get it? Reviews are pretty bad, as expected. I might have cared like 12 years ago. I think at this point I would be more interested in a tell-all book about the development cycle of this game than I would the game itself.

I got my Gamefly copy and played it for about 30 or 45 minutes.

It's exactly like you'd expect--crude, vulgar, and plays like something out of the 90s. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's so far behind the times in terms of what I like in shooters. No cover system, just wailing away with an equipped weapon and running from point A to point B. But that didn't bug me so much. It's the fact that you spend inordinate amounts of time doing un-fun stuff.

I seriously spent half the time as a miniature Duke driving around an R/C car and jumping flaming chasms, platforming up to press elevator buttons, and other useless crap. Jumping from a ledge to a springy-couch cushion up to another ledge to press a button, etc? It's Mario Duke.

Just not for me. I'll probably send it back after another attempt later.

The thing that I don't get is that at this point older gamers like me would love to just play an exact remake of Duke Nukem 3D, but with current gen graphics, sounds, interface and online capabilities. For that matter I would love Doom I and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II in the same way.
