OT: NCAA March Madness

Post by sportdan30 »

So, who are your upsets?

I'm going with Western KY over Illinois in the first round. Cal over Maryland. Other than that, I have the higher seeds advancing.

Later rounds include Syracuse over Oklahoma, KU over Mighigan State (if KU can get by North Dakota State and West Virginia).

I'm going with all number one seeds to advance to the Final Four with NC beating Pitt in the Championship game.

Now the only issue is that NC and Pitt can only play in the Semifinals. So try again.

I think the Big Ten will get absolutely pounded. The only team worth anything is Michigan St., and I think West Virginia will beat them in the Sweet 16.

My final four (for now):
Wake (definitely have the talent to beat Louisville)
Memphis
Pitt
UNC (those two have pretty easy routes to the final four)

Final: Pitt over Memphis

1st round upsets:
Sienna over Ohio St. (trendy, I know)
USC over BC
Northern Iowa over Purdue
VCU over UCLA
Butler over LSU
W. Ky over Illinois
Temple over ASU

I will probably change this a dozen times before I turn my bracket in tomorrow.

I know I don't have Pitt in the final four in a few brackets. They call the game tighter in the tourney and Pitt can get in a lot of trouble when they actually call 1/4 of the fouls they actually commit during a game :)

I don't have many upsets.. I think this year is really top heavy.

I would love to see Mizzou in the sweet 16 though.. but after that, beating Memphis - assuming they get there - would be one hell of a task.

I have Louisville over Pitt in the NC.

Wow no love for the Illini. Yeah W Ky beat Louisville, but they also lost to a lot of poor teams. Illinois did beat Missouri, Purdue twice, played MI St tough on the road. Can the boys get a little love.

I'm done with Obama. He picked Memphis over UConn.

I actually expect a one and done. The heart and soul of the team senior PG Chester Frazier is probably going to still be out with an injured hand. Be nice to get a Braggin' Rights game that really meant something though :D

Agree that the Big 10 is TERRIBLE, as Bill Walton would say.. I'd rather be the mid-tier of a man pyramid at Abu Ghirab than watch a full Big 10 game.

The CBS high quality stream is really good. Clear picture and no hiccups so far despite what I'm sure is high demand.

Absolutely! I would love to see Memphis get ousted this early in the tournament. And it would help Missouri, as I have them in the Final Four.

Memphis looks completely lost on D, like somebody just gave them a pop quiz in algebra.

Ah, the rigors of that brutal Conference USA schedule ...

Take care,

Memphis will pull it out, but it just goes to show you that they're indeed vulnerable.

It was fun while it lasted. Maybe Cal or Maryland will be able to finish against them.

Gotta give major props to Robert Salley who hit 10 three pointers. That's incredible. He's the reason why they won the game.

I think Memphis showed a lot of poise in coming back. That's the sign of a good team. Northridge was really hot for a bit there, and Memphis struggled to switch properly on D. But they made some nice adjustments and Robert Sallie turned into the NBA Jam comeback AI.

Not the most memorable day for the tourney, but some good games. UCLA/VCU was terrific and worth staying up for. Probably a more interesting set of matchups today.
