Van Halen is a fitting choice, and more to my liking than Metallica. Still I am pretty disgusted with what Activision is doing to the series/genre. In the course of less than a year Activision will release;
-Guitar Hero Metallica
-Guitar Hero Greatest Hits
-Guitar Hero Modern Hits
-Guitar Hero Van Halen
-Guitar Hero 5
-Band Hero
-Guitar Hero On Tour 2 (DS)
-DJ Hero

Totally disgusting, especially in light of the RB continuous DLC arrangement.

I agree 100%. Talk about just cashing in as fast and furious as you can.

I bought GH:Aerosmith when it dropped to $10 (still haven't opened it). I'll wait for Metallica and Van Halen to drop down to $20 before purchasing. I also heard that the VH game will consist of just DLR era tracks. While I prefer that era of VH, limiting it to just the first 6 albums diminishes the game a bit.

Since getting Rock band 2 for Christmas, I've barely played any GH game anyways. The constant DLC is much more attractive than buying new discs. Plus, I get a lot more variety that way.

Waaaaaaay passing on this one... perhaps if they included songs from the Sammy Hagar era of VH -- I mean "Dreams" would have been an awesome song --- then maybe.

But since it's from the David Lee "I have no talent" Roth era - no go for me..

GH5, Van Halen and The Beatles games will be purchases for me the rest of the year in the music genre, so I say exploit away as long as they are still fun to play.

Just picked up GH5, this version is definitely the most diverse of the series which includes the likes Nirvana, Coldplay, Elton John, Wolfmother and The Police. There's also a new 'Party Play' mode.

Just got GH5 today and got through about a third of the songs and so far so good, pretty cool seeing your xbox avatar rocking on the stage. Make sure you don't throw away the small round sticker that is on the front of the wrapper as you need it along with your receipt to mail in to get the Van Halen game, otherwise you'll have to rummage through your garbage as I had to do. :lol:
