NCAA Football 10: TeamBuilder (Press Release)
April 27, 2009 — Create-a-School was first introduced in NCAA Football 2000 on the PlayStation. The PS2 version made its debut in NCAA Football 2003. For three years, fans have anxiously awaited the next generation of this feature. The wait is now over, as EA SPORTS proudly announces the arrival of TeamBuilder.

TeamBuilder is a web-based create-a-school feature that allows anyone with Internet access to log on to teambuilder.easports.com to create and share schools with the rest of the NCAA Football 10 community. These created schools can be downloaded in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of NCAA Football 10 and can be used in Play Now, Dynasty, and Online Dynasty modes. TeamBuilder will go live approximately one month before the July 14th launch of NCAA Football 10.

Thanks Murph,
but the real bread and butter is in the Season Showdown and TeamBuilder modes as well as a new mode that we'll be detailing on June 29.
Hmm, interesting to have a new mode mentioned that late.

A few videos posted by Danimal in the Madden thread:

http://www.pastapadre.com/8802/e3-2009- ... #more-8802

The first 2 are for NCAA 10. The smooth running animations and *much* more realistic momentum/acceleration of the backs have me very close to getting it at release for the first time since NCAA 07. One of my biggest issues with the next gen versions has been the stuttery, "running in mud" feeling of running the football. Now if they have also fixed the rampant interceptions on Heisman, I'll be thrilled with this year's release.

What in the world is going on with EA and the rosters for this game? The devs are posting on the issue over at OS today, but they're causing more confusion than what existed before:

Tiburon developer: "Hey guys... so we are aware of the issue with no (or few) freshmen on some teams in TeamBuilder and yes the same issues are found on the NCAA 10 disc. Over the past few days, one of our top priorities has been investigating solutions.

The TeamBuilder teams require some data on the disc to set Depth Charts for every team created before they can be used in a game. For example if you use the Cupcake roster as a starting point, NCAA 10 will give you a default Depth Chart for the Cupcakes for your TeamBuilder team (which you can edit in game). This means any changes we make could cause some problems with teams already created using TeamBuilder. So we need to ensure we are taking to proper steps to correct the issues.

We understand the concerns with how this can affect Dynasty mode and Online Games, so we are working hard to have a solution in place before launch on July 14th.

-Russ"

OS Poster: "Thanks for the info. We all appreciate your taking the time to let us know the story.

Having said that, I'm a little confused by this answer. Most would agree that the main issue with the teambuilder rosters isn't the lack of freshmen. It's the number of players who either shouldn't be there (because they graduated after last season, transferred, etc.) or the ones who should be present but are not.

To give a few specific examples of what I'm talking about, take a look at the TB roster for Houston. RE #53 and LT #74 should be gone, while starting HB #25 (last year's C-USA Frosh of the year) is nowhere to be found.

Will this still be the case if I look at the default rosters on the actual game disc a month from now? If so, why?"

Tiburon developer: "We aren't sure of what happened yet, but we didn't want to continue leaving you guys in the dark on what is going on. It looks like the wrong version of the rosters made the final build, but we don't know for sure yet. Our efforts now are on remedying the situation the best we can."

Here's a link to the thread...should be interesting to see where this goes:

The NCAA team doesn't have a passionate person in charge and there is the difference.

Madden may not be the best game ever this year but they have done a lot for one year and I think have an excellent team in place.

Having said that I will buy NCAA, and I'll buy backbreaker and anything else that come out cause i am a football addict.

So I played a few games last night on AA. I'm just confused how I feel about it. This might be the first time I pass on a football game.

+ The game play actually feels a ton better. There is good pressure on the QB, there is not an exaggerated perfect pocket like the 2K games that forms every play but if you try and rush to the outside the ends will eat you up.

+ The coverage in the secondary is a ton better, man coverage actually works.

+ pursuit angles are fixed

+ Man lock is a great feature, especially when playing Defense. I think the camera angle I get playing D in man lock is better then the default.

+ The AI seemed to adjust to what i was doing.

Sounds good so far right.

- Graphics are horrible, I mean washed out. I thought it was a fricking PS2 game. I can't even put in to words how bad this game looked to me.

- Same tackle animations over and over. The ones that play repeatedly are ones that should happen rarely and that's an issue.

- The game speed is faster then 09, it feels like Madden 09 speed. I didn't dig it at all

- Maybe it's me but i could not get comfortable with the camera angle, it looks changes to me. Like it is lower to the field.

So to sum it up the game play seems like it has been tweaked and is playing a better game. But something is just off, I can't put my finger on what it is but I just never felt comfortable. I am thinking it is the game speed but it's hard to say.

I played a few games last night, on AA as well. My first impressions, in the pro/con style

+ I really liked player lock on defense. It's really fun to just take a linemen and focus on the rush, or take a safety (from their POV) and try and play good defense. A really nice addition.

+ The pocket is great. I was instinctively trying to roll outside of the pocket w/Tebow at the first sign of pressure, and the DEs would break off of their lineman smartly and get me...it was nice. (However, I didn't play enough to see how easy it is for a human-controlled DE to pull off of a block when the QB goes out of the pocket...that will be big.)

+ More penalties, at a somewhat (at least from two short games) realistic frequency.

+ Coverage is improved. Players seem smarter in zone, and it seems like crossing routes aren't nearly as money as before. (Though I need to play more to see if that's true.)

+ Haven't seemed to see any pursuit angle issues, and there doesn't seem to be unrealistic speed imbalance that was in NCAA 09.

+/- The QB throws ducks when being hit...however, I didn't see much variety in the trajectory of the ducks.

- Timeout issues are still evident (though maybe they're fixed in the real thing). Oklahoma had 1st and goal with one timeout and about 40 seconds left, and they hurried to the line and then ran off 30 seconds of clock. Seemed really odd.

- DB play seems improved, but I still found it difficult to throw it over the DB on a fly route with man coverage....the DB would jump and make the tip more often than he should. Need to see this more, but this was a big peeve of mine in previous versions.

- No graphical improvements at all. Not very impressive.

- Animations seem.....odd. I think the way some of them link don't seem natural at times. I have to play more, but the game had an unnatural feel.

- Maybe it was just me, but there seemed to be a lag in menu responsiveness in play calling. Changing pages on a menu should be instantaneous...it's not that hard.

My feelings are mixed...will have to play the demo more to get a better feel for the game.

- ducks, but not with a lot of
