As Chris Rock would say: Grand opening. Grand closing. He also joked: "Can't even go see a movie the first week it comes out, why? 'Cause ****** are shootin at the screen!" This wasn't a joke. Sad commentary indeed.

Speaking of guns, does anyone here carry? I FINALLY went Friday with my wife to apply for our GFL(Georgia Firearms License)....
My wife is not going to carry as she does not know how to shoot. She has been asking me to take her to the range and teach her. I have however, tought her some gun safety.
Open carry is legal in Georgia, but I don't think I would feel comfortable doing that as I know I would still get harassed by law enforecement. For now, I will conceal.

Now that I live in a large city again I do. I have my CCP and I never leave home without my pistol. I leave it in the trunk when I venture into the VA and such, but I take it with me when I'm trying to raise money for the WWP. It helps open the checkbooks.bdunn13 wrote:Speaking of guns, does anyone here carry? I FINALLY went Friday with my wife to apply for our GFL(Georgia Firearms License)....

I live by the underwear rule....if my underwear is on, so is my gun. Being armed/being a sheepdog is a HUGE undertaking. It is a lifestyle. Your wife/kids need to know what to do and what to say/not to say. You need to be constantly on alert...no more condition white. It is definitely not easy.
BD, three things:
1. know your CCW laws inside and out
2. find a lawyer that knows CCW laws inside and out (better to have the info ready to go than run around looking for a lawyer when you need one...and if you shoot someone, no matter how justified, you will need one)
3. try and take some pistol classes from reputable trainers. It aint cheap, but it is worth it.
Thanks to you though for taking the initiative and realizing that when push comes to shove, you have to protect your own. Unless you get robbed right in front of a cop, my brothers in blue will not be able to protect you.
However, come tomorrow there probably won't be any more bad people in this world...thank goodness!
OH...also I would seriously advise anyone against OC (open carry). It is WAY more trouble than its worth on so many fronts.
Double OH...what kind of blaster are you packing?

I have a new gamertag Provo 4569
I know 2 people that have been mugged at gunpoint in the past 3 weeks in downtown Augusta, GA... The last one happened a couple of week ago and one of the two thugs said "he saw me, cap him..." So he just ran... This was an ex-army ranger.. Total badass, not a woman, or male weakling..... My wife use to work downtown, but she just quit to stay home and raise our 10 month old the way we want him to be raised
As far as number 3 goes. I am POST certified. I was only a cop for a few months, but I went through the firearms training and qualified with a S&W 4006.
My only handgun now is a Glock 27 (subcompact 40). I am looking at other options in case my wife ever wants to carry. Plus, where I work, everyone is gun happy(work with a bunch of ex marines, airforce peeps and army folks.
As far as 1 and 2 goes, I have recently registered at georgiapacking.org and a couple of lawyer names are always poping up there.
Thanks,
BD

Paul - took a break from in the retardweb for a bit....e-mail will be sent once I get the demons to bed.
BD - GLOCK?!?!? WHAT?? J/K! I'd still have a G17, but admin authorized our team to carry 1911's so now I have a Nighthawk Custom.
Hopefully WI will pass a CCW law soon....its gotten close, like 2 votes close to override gov veto
I love it when co-workers ask me why I carry all the time..."how else will I shoot someone if I don't have my gun?"
