Sorry. Will see if I can find a replacement. It looked really good when it was up.

Blame OS

Those Sony guys are always over there and caught wind of the videos.

Still searching, should have known better and saved them.

Yeah, I saw that. OS has a pretty good relationship with The Show's developers so I guess they did the right thing.

Has anyone seen anything regarding features, besides improving the graphics I really don't know what they could do to make this game better. I was actually thinking of skipping it this year because I still play 08 so much.

Haven't heard a thing. I'm hoping for improved fielding. Maybe fielding with a meter, ala MVP. Some of the canned animations have to go (i.e. the shortstop throwing the ball over the head of the first baseman every game or every other game). I'd also like to see them do something with the pitching, making it a bit more of a challenge. Other than that, I don't know how they can improve upon the game much either.

I seem to recall in the videos that there were going to be some training modes and batting practice. Both I think were for the Road to the Show.

Two words. Online play. I live for ranked online matches and MLB 08s lag makes this game unplayable online. MLB2K7 had decent online play and support and then it all went downhill with MLB 2K8 which always seemed to suffer from a decent amount of lag. The MLB 08 online interface leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Gameplay wise I would hope they'd add fielding meters ala MVP and MLB 2K8. I'm also a fan of 2K's pitching system over MLBs but that is never going to happen:) Then they just need to continue upgrading all the graphics to make an already beautiful looking game even nicer. I did read something about hyper-realistic crowds being in 09 but I can't remember where I saw that now.

Shame about the videos getting pulled down so fast. Nice find bd.

How about some more interactive hitting and pitching controls? The series hasn't really changed much in 3 years. Keep the core gameplay and give us something other than "push button to pitch....push button to hit".

They can do a lot IMO.

I agree 110 percent. It's the only thing that drives me nuts about this game.

also Batting Practice with a nice touch of the balls still present on the field scatter around.

Degrading batter box during the game.

Those videos were pulled quickly, kinda amazed they did not show up on some other hosting site.

Anyway here are a couple quick grabs from the opening, showing off the new shadowing.

Wow.

I like that shadowing, I know I was in the minority but I didn't like the Shows graphics, they were too bright for me, always made me feel I was playing a game..yeah I know that sounds lame.

So they never bothered to patch it to improve online performance?

I won't even bother to look at it unless it has reliable online.

And really, by now, they have to think of multiplayer online.

I'll still buy it but yeah the guys behind the game need to seriously address the online portion. The other things that need work is the online interface when trying to chat and start a game. It's borderline guesswork trying to start a game.

This was my first year playing The Show, and I loved the game. That said, I would like to see it be a little easier to get extra base hits, outfielder errors, and more in-game injuries. With the extra base hits, it seemed like outfielders were too quick to cut off hits that would lead to doubles, especially in smaller parks. I could never fix this with sliders.

I would also like to have the option to really tweak pitching accuracy for the CPU and myself. I was pretty pleased with the game's pitching, but it's still too easy to throw strikes and too hard to get the CPU to have an accuracy meltdown on the mound. I still think ESPN MLB 2k4 was the best game to represent this (outside of High Heat) because it had sliders that made sense and that produced noticeable results.

All that said, I am really looking forward to another year with this game. I didn't finish my Cubs season but probably played 60-70 games.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's currently no way to play just the playoffs, right?

I don't think there is - and it's something I'd really like to see in the game. Taking a team through 15-20 games en route to a WS ring is a great alternative to a 162 game season, where simming games is almost a necessity and can hurt the experience in my opinion.
