NHL09: DSP EASHL (360)

While an NHL09 thread exists, I figured I'd start a DSP specific EASHL thread for the 360 version of the game. I think we'd be pretty informal, but it might be worth noting interested members and other team matters such as planned game nights.

For now, I'll update this first post with interested members and (optionally) planned position/template. Since not enough info is available about whether players will be limited to one team or if we can create multiple players, all info here could be subject to change.

Good reponse so far guys. I've reformatted the layout a little to separate the goalie responsibilities since most people will have a primary skater role and I just wanted to indicate those that would be willing to take the goaltender role from time to time. On the other hand, if there are any would be primary goaltenders, note it here and I'll make it your primary position.

Realizing there will be a number of 'floating' position players (me included) at least until the game drops, I figured starting to list preferences might give us an idea of what roles would be doubled up on and what we might be lacking.

Also, it might be more worthwhile to note our profile as positions will probably be somewhat fluid. As a reminder, here are the archetypes as we've been led to understand..

sniper, playmaker, grinder, power forward, offensive defenseman, defensive defenseman, goalie

Sorry Sport. Didn't want to duplicate efforts, but wanted to separate the 360 from PS3 info and to allow for an updateable first post for conciseness. I'll track down replies to your post for inclusion here. Thanks for the heads up.

Where's the Goon role?

Although the fighting engine still suxs from what I've seen it would have been fun to include it among Dsp'ers when a game is out of reach...

My gaming time is somewhat limited and I am already committed to another online team so I don't want to say yes to this squad and then bail...so I will wait and see how things play out. I guess what I am saying is I am a "Maybe".

I would like to be either a offensive "D" or a "grinder" C..

My fav Islander right now is "The Silly Man" (Mike Sillinger).. and love the booming shots that "D" guys like Mark Streit have

How about for our team name we go with the DSP Ice Dragons? Would be nice if EA would allow custom logos to be uploaded like they did with the Nascar game.

A custom jersey like this one from NHL 2002 for the pc would look pretty good as the colors match up very well with the DSP logo. Less than a week away!

Well of course I'll be involved with this. I don't know how much I'll be able to play during the first week.

I'll probably build either a 'playmaker' or a 'grinder' and play wherever is needed. It would be nice if I could make a few different guys, but I'm doubtful that will be possible.

I'd love to play goalie once in a while, but would hate to be stuck between the pipes game after game.

It's good to see the interest at this early stage.

We may see a couple of nights with multiple concurrent games at this rate.

I suppose it remains to be seen how NHL's team creation options have been extended (I believe its minimal). We should check out the logos and come up with something.

Ice Dragons? others?

Also, I'd be happy to defer to Sport73 for setup as he was first to post on this topic in the NHL thread. In either case, can't wait to get this one next week!

I just got the RROD, so I will be out 2-3 weeks for surgery of my 360, while this sucks at least I will have it back for Fifa09, maybe I should get the arcade unit for $199 on sept.7 then return it back when I get my old one back?
