Madden 09 Discussion
Yeah maybe it is a week or so early but the demo is out today and apparently some people already have the game.
Here is a thread with some EA Sports World videos from OS

Abner has the game and he is not a Madden fan so we'll see what he has to say.

Not a Madden fan means? He dislikes EA? or he prefers 2k?Danimal wrote:http://nutweasel.blogspot.com/

Let me try to explain what I meant.
He is not a 2K die hard, he is just very picky. Things you and I would let go, which is evident by us still playing NCAA he will not.
I mean from reading the blog he hasn't played much and he is already looking to lower completion percentage. I'm not saying he should be or it's not an issue. I typically tend to play the game for a few days before I start trying to muck with it.
I don't know if any of that makes sense, I just know the demo is pretty fun, so I hope the game turns out the same way.

I do like the Madden IQ test, now.. is it just a gimmick? Do players deliberately do bad, so their difficulty is lower?
Although I would just play solo, so I guess all that would matter to me is how accurate it adjusts to my skillz.
The game is so much faster than NCAA, and it should be. Running is tough and I failed the first two times because I was stuffed at the line. DOH!
Passing seems good and all the graphics, animations and such seem really well done.
Of course this doesn't really tell any of us how the full game is going to play.
That IQ test did remind me of Tron though!

Also he is giving no indication on how he is playing just that the cpu is too accurate and he can't find the sliders.
Did he take the iq test? If so is he playing with that on so the cpu is determining the difficulty? Or did he set it to all-pro or all-madden and start playing. I think that is key information to have.
Again not saying he is wrong on what he is saying, I couldn't I don't have the game. But I recall him saying int were still an issue in NCAA on one of his first posts which was incorrect. Right now there just a random dumping of thoughts without a lot of context, so before I jump off the ledge I'll give it some time.
I also wish he would pop in Head Coach and give us some info

I'm not sure how the difficulty is supposed to work, but I know very little about pigskin football - played the Tron football 'camp', went into the game scenario and then scored a TD in a 2 play, 30 second drive.
Hmmmmm - I thought the whole IQ/Tron mini-games were there to determine the difficult level?
[It was actually quite time efficient because I only had 10 minutes to play so it worked out well]

Well, I like what I see so far. I'm not finding the game easy. On the contrary, one timeout and a minute forty something is not enough time for me to get all my ducks in a row. The A.I. DB's are playing tough D.
Graphically, it looks gorgeous. It's the best Madden I've seen.
How well it plays on defense is still to be determined.
Are there new camera angles when you drop back to pass? It sure seems like it. I like the look of the passing game.

Well, if you did, you'd learn that one of the developers said there are no CPU sliders this year.Rodster wrote:I have no plans to visit the Madden 09 train wreck on OS this year.
Yes, you read that correctly. There are sliders for the user, but you can't tweak the CPU directly.
The OS crowd is freaking, and rightly so, but it's not a killer for me. The sliders in Madden have always been s*** anyway -- you could turn down human INT and still pick off four passes a game last year. And I suppose if they wanted to do the adaptive AI maybe sliders screwed it up. But it's a bizarre decision on their part.
How do the CPU sliders just get left out? Unreal.

OS just went atomic over this announcement.
The CPU sliders don't work in NCAA and they are completely removed in Madden.
Me thinks CPU sliders in NCAA were "work as designed".

It is pretty funny...In the end they are the only people who will care though.JRod wrote:OS just went atomic over this announcement.

EA will sell a billion copies and make a trillion dollars. They sell to the average man not to us.
Personally I dont care as sliders have always seemed a bit fantastic to me.
Edit: I hardly ever venture to OS but this s*** is just too funny and I need the laughs after the Sox game...Im thinking these goofs will go deep into the night.
