Post by JackB1 »

Pretty impressive!! Danica wins the Japan Indy 300.
She is the first woman to ever win an Indy race!

ESPN didn't air it live but decided to air the replay of it when she won?

She seemed in a hurry to let her hair down and put on the sponsor's cap.

Is this win going to bring more fans?

ESPN Classic aired it live. It was scheduled to be televised live on ESPN2 Friday night but was delayed by rain until Saturday night, forcing the move to Classic.

The rebroadcast this morning on ESPN2 was planned before her victory.

That's what all drivers do in Victory Lane, put on sponsor caps. She wears her hair up in her helmet, which isn't the way she normally wears it. She lets her hair down every time she removes her helmet, whether it's a race or practice or test. Nothing new there.

One would hope.

Take care,

Where there any right turns involved in the race? If not, who cares. I give more credit to her crew and engineers than the driver that needs to floor it and coast around an oval.

On a related note, in Arena Football today, the once winless Kansas City Brigade defeated the Colorado Crush 55-53 for their first win of the season. :)

Agreed. It was a nice win for Danica and she needed it because she is now in a top car. Hopefully the win will turn into more fans but Nascar really needs to screw up royally to hand their fans back to the IRL.

I am glad she won, but it is only a matter of time before a woman win a road race. After all, I lost count of how many women drivers cut me off or drive me off the road....

I'm glad she won. I really think Danica is more interested in winning than she is in being the first woman to win. She is a race driver who just happens to be a woman.

The IRL got my attention last year when Dario made his exciting/ nerve racking run for the championship. Man, last years season finale was awesome.

Graham Rahal and Danica have both made their marks this season, it's time for Marco to step up his game.

It was nice to see her win the race. I got to actually talk to her for a second after she finished 2nd or 3rd in the Toyota Race at Cleveland a few years ago. Really nice, down to earth person.

Her winning will only help the sport IMO.

What does my avatar have to do with disrespecting women? I didn't realize having a chuckle at some s*** humor meant I was supposed to be supportive of sexist jokes that openly mock a significant achievement for women. I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around that one fathead.

Are you trying to bring back the spirit of Grog, Scoop? I fear the return of bowel cleansing threads... :)

It has precisely nothing to do with disrespecting women. I have no idea what Scoop is thinking by bringing it up.
