Console Formula 1 is still in Sony's court

Post by backbreaker »

I posted in the racing section over at OS(which has pics)

here is the link. I distincly recall EA purchased this license

I remember a while back that EA, bought the license to F1 but from a Peter Moore quote isn't doesn't seem to be true, and in fact it is still in sony's possession.

Peter's quote:

Formula One - This seems to be a popular question, and it seems many of our fans in Europe are interested in our thoughts about the game license. This one is simple. I am personally a huge fan, having grown up worshipping such great drivers as Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and James Hunt. The excitement that Lewis Hamilton has brought to the sport, and its vast global appeal, make it an appealing game license, but as of right now it is not available. Maybe in a few years the situation will change, but until then we fully respect the rights held by our partners at Sony.

Well it looks like sony is actually putting the F1 license to use in Gran turismo 5, in the euro version of GT5:P their are pics of the shell Formula car. Someone in the Media in Europe has an advance version of the game

So for those who thought the series was dead after F1:CE, will get the Formula 1 in GT5.

There are pics floating around of the Ferrari F-1 car in GT5 or GT5P.

I think besides the license, Sony is sponsoring the actual F-1 events, so the price of admission is high.

I really enjoyed playing F1CE, so much so that if the next F1 game is released in Europe only, I'll import it.

Sony is not the title sponsor of any F1 races in 2008:

I would imagine that Sony was forced to buy signage at every Grand Prix as part of its deal with FOM, but it's not a title sponsor.

Take care,
