Didn't see a thread.

So who saw the Michigan game?

Sounded like a terrific game but nobody anticipated that it would be a contest or else it would have been a national broadcast.

That's too bad. LOL...I-AA beating a big 10 team? Wow. Hey, at least it was the top I-AA team last year. But still...ouch.

Appy St moved it well all day. Huge blocked FG,after letting Mich connect on a long pass. One of the biggest upsets of all time. Could be a long year for Mich. and probably Carr's last one.

Big Ten network is suppose to be a national HD service.

Maybe Direct TV will carry it when they put the new satellite online.

ESPN HD was showing the start of the WSU vs. Wisc. game and then they switched to Wake Forest at BC, which may turn out to be a good game.

I was surprised to see Mizzou as a 6 point favorite. They shouldn't be giving more than 2-3 IMO.

What a fiasco of an opening weekend for me already.

First, Syracuse gets embarrassed on national TV Friday night. Now Michigan and my hometown boy Hart lose to a I-AA team.

The horror, the horror. Does anyone have a spare paper shopping bag handy?

ESPN scroller said it's the first time a 1-AA team has defeated a ranked 1-A team ever.

Hart had 3 TDs and like 180 yards tho.

The next time this season a top-5 ranked team gets beat by a 1-AA team, be sure to remind us you told us so.

Hmmm, I thought it was supposed to be March Madness, not September inSanity. Congrats to the Apps. They have really built a 1-AA powerhouse in Boone. They might be the best program in the Carolinas over the past decade (which admittedly isn't saying much!). In fact, the 1A teams here don't schedule them anymore for fear of embarassment!

Which doesn't mean dick considering it was a I-AA opponent and Michigan's season basically is over Sept. 1.

Pathetic.

At least Notre Dame is losing. That provides some comfort.

We don't get the Big Ten Network here on Comast because of the BTN's ridiculous demand to be on basic cable at $1.10 a subscriber per month. Comcast wants to put the channel as part of a $5 sports tier that includes 3 Fox College Sports channels, NBATV, the NFL network, GolTV, and Fox Soccer Channel. That makes perfect sense to me. 90% of people here don't even care about any other college sports in the Big Ten except football and even the ones that do care probably don't want to have EVERY subsriber pay $14 a year for 3 Penn State football games vs. crappy teams...especially when you consider there are over 100,000 people going to the games anyway.

I can't believe Appalachian State can do something that Penn State hasn't done in a decade...beat Michigan :( I'm really surprised Michigan couldn't get some more time added to the clock

No Heisman hopes?

Comcast has pulled NFL Network off because they're wrangling over rights fees.

I guess with people paying for Sunday Ticket and the NCAA package, the Big Ten and the NFL figure they could squeeze the cable/satellite/viewers.

You must have missed the part where Mizzou is considered a favorite by many to win the Big 12 north this year and have a shot at a BCS game.
Illinois is going down today for sure.

I agree. Little school in the NW mountains of North Carolina heads into Ann Arbor. Outplays the Wolverines most of the game. Gives up a great touchdown run by Hart and falls behind late. No timeouts on their own 26 with a little over a minute to play trailing the Wolverines in the Big House. Drive down and score to take the lead then block a GW Field Goal attempt and knock off the number 5 team in the country. Yep that's pretty big.

Funny thing is I am a Michigan man and am happy for my friends in Boone. We lived an hour from Appy St. We had season tickets the last 2 years. The Mountaineers became my favorite 1-AA team. I love that place. Kid Brewer Stadium(The Rock) is a great place to watch college football. I never thought I would see them play Michigan let alone beat them in the Big House. Wow.

Cal wants payback but UT has a great record under their coach for opening games.

Lets see if Cal makes Ainge look like Elway again.

I'm hoping for OKST Cowboys to pull the upset and leave between the hedges with a win, but we'll see. First Boise St, now App St? Hopefully OkSt will be next.

I agree about the Big Ten network, it is definitely cool. I didn't realize they were going to show games on multiple channels, I believe they had four different early games on at the same time today on DTV channels 218-222. It will be like a free NFL sunday ticket for Big Ten fans. I noticed that the ESPN highlights of the Michigan game were in HD though, are there cable companies that are carrying the network in HD?

And Leebo, they are having the same problems with our local cable company here in Iowa. It is the same deal where Mediacom here wants to place the network on their digital sports addon tier, but the Big Ten will only agree to let them carry the channel if it is on the basic cable tier. Mediacom has basically no leverage here in Iowa though, since Iowa football is probably the only reason many people even have cable in the first place.
