What type of videocard are you using? I don't have that problem and i'm using an nVidia 7900 GTO (512 meg).

I'm using a 7600GT 256MB and Grant's fix worked perfect. Thanks! I just watched an AI race and it was just like watching a race on TV. Now, off to see if I can get my controller configured.

That's where i've had issues trying to properly configure a Logitech Rumble Pad controller. It does work but steering plus gas/brakes are all on the left stick.

I also have a 7900. It's has something to do with the loading of the textures for the cars, not the video card itself. Reading the forums it seems like about half of the people get the white cars. Recommendations are to reinstall and to change a config setting in the ini file, but I did them and it still happens. So it's a bit of a pain to have to run the test every time, but it really only takes a minute so it's certainly worth the trouble.

Also, when calibrating the wheel, I think there is a second page, look for the small arrow at the bottom of the screen. It's either there or in the button assignments screen.

Well, I got the controls configured but I really just don't care for the feel of the car. I'm not sure if it is force feedback issues or just the physics model. In all of my other sims (rFactor, NR2003, GPL, RBR) the force effects give me a very good feel for what the car is doing and when I'm about to push it too far. In GP4 it just seems to have a generic feeling feedback that is overpowered on bumps, etc but not very good at relaying the feeling of grip. I'll have to put some more time into it but for the feel of driving I much prefer rFactor F1 mods to GP4. The AI does seem very good though. I wish I could have the GP4 AI in rFactor.

yes its pretty weak on force feedback just steering tension and maybe a bump or two anything else has been added by modders and i doont like it i much prefer the original feel.

But yeh F Fhas come a ways since then.

So I got a G25 wheel. I now drive with a real shifter and even a clutch.

What a difference. Amazing trying to drive like this. It's slowed me down but it's more fun and I'm improving all the time. With the pedals I can somewhat do heel/toe downshifting... which of course causes me to spin when I don't match the revs... but it's fun!

I'm getting back into rFactor pretty heavily right now. That and racing the LFS demo online on the servers (which are pretty well populated.) PK should have rFactor soon so I'm sure that will stir up a crowd here that will hop online to race.

Anyone have any links for NR2003 COT cars? I downloaded about 38 different cars from MasGrafx.com but i'm looking to complete the full 43 car field.

I also heard there's a COT mod in the works. :)

The COT mod has been done for about two months. You can get it here, and make sure you get the Cup physics:

http://www.dannisbet.com/cot/

As for cars, just about all of 2007 COT cars are available here:

http://www.teamsbr.com/nr2003_07cot.php

You also can find a sh*tload of real and fictional COT's here. Just make sure you get the .cup car instead of the .cts car based on the Truck physics. Do a search for COT in the search field, and you're golden:

http://www.nnracing.com

Some very pretty fictional COT cars here:

Enjoy!

Take care,
PK

Thanks PK, is the COT only 6meg, wow that's small. What's the difference between the Cup and CTS physics?

Thanks for the links. :D

One uses Craftsman Truck physics, which are sludgier and more like driving a boat.

One modifies the Cup physics a bit and are a bit more racy.

If I remember correctly...since it just adds one car model and a text file, it won't be very big.

What's the better PC bike sim, Superbike 2001 or GP 500?

Thanks,

They are both excellent. SBK 2001 was made by Milestone who are making another SBK game for the PC this year as well as the 360. SBK 2001 had a very decent AI and the best cockpit view on any bike game. Brought me back to when I used to ride my Suzuki Katana 1100.

GP 500 from what i've read is also stellar and the on going debate is whether it's a slightly arcade or sim. Either way you can't go wrong with either game. :)

I'd cast a HUGE vote for SBK2001. I still have that game. For a guy who loves a cockpit cam, you'll freak out over the helmet cam, pk. It's useable, unlike the MotoGP attempts.

Here's a trailer for a new upcoming sim called Turismo Carretera” Simulator.

Looks sweet. :D It's based on the ISI engine like GTR2 and rFactor.

Superbike 2001. GP500 is great, but not altogether sim. SBK 2001 with the assists off is the absolute business.

Does anyone have Superbike 2001 running in widescreen mode on a widescreen LCD. I have to change my desktop to 16bit color just to get it to run and then I can only choose 1280x1024 so everything is squashed on my 19" widescreen LCD. And you guys need to quit bringing up my old forgotten sims and making me re-install them again. :P

I have a question for the experts:

I have no experience driving stick. I'm having a hell of a time learning to use the 6-speed shifter with clutch. Any good advice on how to do it WITHOUT heel-toeing?

As well, it would be nice if someone could produce a track that consisted of two long straights connected by hairpins. Let's say two 50 km long straights :) This would give me plenty of chance to practice my shifting up/down without those annoying curves. Anyone know how?

Thanks,
Smurfy.
