I popped in NHL 07 the other night and I forgot how much fun it is to play this game. It has me even more excited about NHL 08 that I preordered it.

A Community Day video from Mark and Shawn, who attended the event. They should have some impressions later today.

AWESOME! Sounds like 08 will the game I have been waiting for. The "stick telemetry" function, the ability to cycle the puck in the offensive zone and the defensive control and strategy sound really good....

That was painful to read. I hate mock conversation articles.

I'm really looking foward to NHL 08. Everytime I play NHL 07 it reminds me what a fun Hockey game EA made.

Does anyone know if NHL 08 for the PC will be a port of NHL 07 from next-gen consoles? I'll be happy enough, if that's the case.

Every review I read of NHL 07 for the PC indicated it was a port of NHL 06 from consoles, with no Skill Stick, etc. If NHL 08 for the PC has the Skill Stick and features that you cats raved about from NHL 07 for the next-gen consoles, that will be cool.

Thanks,
PK

From all indications NHL 08(PC) will still be a port from the consoles. The next major update will probably come out when Vista becomes more mainstream as it uses DX10 or unless someone hacks DX10 and makes it work on XP. All indications are DX10 will happen on XP.

The big question: A port of which EA console hockey game?

As I said, if it's NHL 07, I'm cool with that. I don't care if the PC version isn't re-engineered for that platform as long as it includes all of the cool features from the next-gen console versions of NHL 07, including the Skill Stick.

Take care,
PK

What an idiotic and childish response. If anyone has been trolling here it has been you and your incessant blowjobs for APF2K8....

In all likelihood it's the PS2/Xbox port and not the PS360 versions.

Ah, that's a bummer. At least I have Rugby 08, MVP 07 (MVP 2005 completely modded) and Madden 07 and soon 08 to keep me occupied, not to mention rFactor, NR 2003 and Richard Burns Rally.

No complaints! :)

You forgot to mention the 295 mods, 650 tracks and 12,000 cars for rFactor. :D

I was very impressed with NHL 2007 for XBOX 360 last year and look forward to NHL 2008. I have been burned by EA SPORTS in the past so I am very cautious, but if they can improve the game we could have something special.

Very impressive. Especially useful for power plays and odd man rushes. Finally a way to ensure your dumbass AI team mates can properly execute a 2 on 1/0

HUGE NHL08 Community Day thread on the EA NHL forums. Did not have time to read all 74 pages of the thread, but the first post, while not written as well as it could have been, tells us a great deal about the game.
