My Heart Bleeds for You...but only for 10 seconds...

Post by Teal »

Anyone up for a 'shake hands and come out fighting' GoW matchup tonite? Start time would be 10:30EDT, first come, first serve. Bleed outs will compromise at 10 seconds (is that acceptable?), so yes, we'll have bleed outs, but no, they won't last an eternity, and 10 seconds still gives time for a teammate close by to revive you.

So, whaddya say? Some last second GoW before many of us jump into the Halo 3 Beta?

No, it's not about Falwell. I'm not into dancing on people's graves.

Anyone else for tonight?

If I'm on, hit me with an invite...but the little one will make the call and she's not disclosing her plans at this point :)

Now THAT was fun! Wow, some of those matches were intense (some were friggin' blowouts, but on both sides of the ball, so it's all good)

So what did you guys think of having it set at 10 second bleed outs? I really preferred it, because it kept you in the game longer, but I'd like to get your takes.

All in all, tonight was a blast...

I owe everyone an apology for my poor attitude last night. I ended up muting my mic about halfway through the evening because I'm sure my teammates got tired of my constant stream of obscenities. My teammates were probably wondering why I was emptying clips into dead bodies but since I seemed to be on the losing end of a gun battle 9 times out of 10 I decided to exact revenge on the corpse of that 1 out of 10 I did manage to down. I had no complaints about the game settings or anything like that, I just played like crap last night and for some reason it really got to me. Sorry.

Yeah...I was not playing well either and was getting frustrated. I was really tired though and mad about my stereo receiver acting quirky (having trouble with HDMI video signals). I decided to call it quits before we ended up having GoW Lobby Cage Match pt. Deux.

Absolutely no problem with the game mode or the bleed out time though. Still love the game and all the maps/modes. Just was not my night last night.

Yeah, I had a good time last night--lots of fast paced games which is just the way I like it.

Fortunately the bleed out time never really became an issue last time. I usually finished people off in 3-5 seconds last night, but even when someone is left to die it doesn't take too long. Hope to do it again soon.

Well, it was the best of times...it was the worst of times, eh? You felt just like I did last week, with the addition of not being able to get back into the fight for twice as long.

But you're the bigger man, mix, because at least you apologized. I kept bitching about it the next day! Anyway, next time let's try someone else hosting, because it seems that maybe my connection and mix's aren't totally compatible or something. He was having weird things happen that others weren't. We live in the same area, so I don't know why that is, but anyone else with a pretty fast connection should maybe host the next one.

The other thing I want to explore is what has been called the 'host advantage'. I went ape last night on a couple of maps, racking up more kills than I usually do, and I wondered if the host team actually has an advantage, not just the host. So if I host again, let's get mix and spooky and another on my side to see if their luck changes. If it does, and it's radical, and people like Naples, who seems to be a wildman at GoW sucks that night, then we may have a better idea of what's going on. Because even with the bleed outs set lower, some of the scores were just plain lopsided.

Anyway, yes, it was still a good time overall, but I don't like it when everyone's not having fun. I want to get to the bottom of it...

I've always been a firm believer in the 'host advantage', but never thought of it in terms of applying to the host's teammates as well. My connection last night was excellent early on, but degraded as the night went on. That does match being in Teal's team early and switching off later, but I don't remember exactly when I switched and when my connection began to lag a little more.
