While waiting for xbox 360 - PC has loads of good gaming

Post by JackB1 »

funny how things go in cycles.....after I got my xbox, I hardly ever gamed on my PC. Now that the PC has forges ahead of the XBox again, in terms of graphics, I am gaming mostly on my PC again. The amount of quality titles has really kept me busy:

-Call of Duty2
-Pro Evo5
-Half Life2
-F.E.A.R. (just started this week)
-NFS Most Wanted
-Toca3 demo
-MTX Mototrax demo

I think it's kind of funny that the thread title is "PC has loads of good gaming" and the only title on the list not available for a console is F.E.A.R. As far as I know that one is headed to the 360 as well. :D

As long as there is Football Manager on the PC, I will always game on the PC.

Agreed. It's the only game I play on PC. FM 2006 is killer.

Take care,

I can't beleive it, but I just picked up WoW for my iMac.

So far I am having a good time with it but am more or less totally lost.

my point was that until I can afford a 360, the PC has
stepped in as a nice and surprising replacement.

yes I did, but that thread died a while ago and while this was a similiar
thread, it's not exactly the same.

Yeah, except my f***in PC chugs like Cosmo Kramer during the AIDS walk when trying to play Half-Life 2, and it would cost me the price of a 360 to get the card and memory to rectify the problem. It's playable, but I'm definitely not getting the complete OMG HL2 R0X0RS experience.

Brando, I got a GEForce 6600 at Best Buy for $150 and it plays HL2 and even F.E.A.R. fine.

How hard is it to install a new graphics card?
I have zero hands-on opening up a PC.

If you can move your mouse, you can install a new card.

PC gaming has always had and will always have a load of good games, regardless of what console is out.

Civ IV, Wow, Space Rangers 2, The Movies to name a recent few.

I'll always prefer my baseball and golf games on a PC.

So I'm not sure the point of this thread , unless you're trying to make yourself feel better because you don't have a 360 yet ;)

it's very easy. The new one basically goes in the samw way the
old one comes out. They just pop into the slot. You might have to hook up the fan to a power cable.......that's probably the hardest part and that's not hard.

I'll have to check. When you install the game, it automatically optimizes your settings based on your system. I'll check tonite. My problem is,
I can't decide which to finnish first.......HL2 or F.E.A.R.

FEAR is a system hog. They really need a patch to optimize that game.

I can't believe there arent' many sport sims players here.

Total Pro Basketball
Total College Basketball
Front Office Football
Bowl Bound College Football
EHM 2005

..and the list goes on.

I'm also playing Far Cry and COD 2.

It's only bad when there is a lot of baddies shooting at the same time.
other than that, it's pretty smooth on my system. Not nearly as smooth as
HL2 though, which is smooth all the time.

I've been avoiding the PC lately but got Quake 4 and Civ 4 for christmas so I'm ramping up a bit (gaming is a good winter hobby--as if LA has winter) Quake 4 is pretty rough on my box and I'm so tempted to grab a new videocard. I just hate to upgrade with the deadend AGP platform. Quake 4, BF2 are pretty sweet though notwithstanding the occasional slideshow effect. FM2k6 is amazing. Haven't really spent much time with Civ4 but I think with those 4 games I could kill a year or two.
