Re: Project Cars
I will probably wait a mayor two for some reviews, but this looks pretty must have.
I'm really curious what the online play will be like. Not so much the online racing, but how the score chasing aspect will be set up, and if there will be clubs like FH2, but used more like the Country Cubs in the Tiger Woods series. It would make things like the Forza 5 challenge we are doing much easier to organize.
I'm pretty sure the racing will be fun. The key will be how well it connects all of the players.

Re: Project Cars
I believe I received the same bonus content for pre-ordering at Best Buy. Good option for cheap f*cks like me who still buy physical product because of future trade-in value.

In regards to pre-ordering, I also pre-ordered from the UK PSN a couple days ago, come on 5/6/15. Very excited for this. I couldn't wait for the US release a week later. I'm weak.

Re: Project Cars
Pre-ordered a physical copy for the XB1 today. £15 cheaper than going digital, for some reason. There are a few streams up at http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Project%20CARS if anyone's interested in having a look.
This list of Q&A items on the game's physics suggests some astonishing attention to detail, provided the game actually does all of these things... http://en.pcars.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Physics

Re: Project Cars
This game seems almost too good to be true for a console racing title. I'll blow acres of tapioca pudding into my controller if it even approaches what is promised.
Fingers crossed.

Re: Project Cars
I can't find one anywhere. There's something happening at GAME retail stores for the next few days, though, where there are apparently PS4 pods running the game for people to play. I am, however, more than 20 miles away from any branch of GAME big enough to be a part of that.cfiore wrote:Apparently the demo is up on the UK Store.

Re: Project Cars
I haven't seen it myself. Someone over at OS posted it was up. I am at work so I cannot confirm.
Re: Project Cars
It's not a big deal to me, because I'm not really a car nerd, but that list is a little underwhelming. I don't think it will matter when it comes to gameplay for me, but no Chevrolet, Nissan, Toyota. And always tend to drive a lot of Mazdas, just because they have been my favorite real life cars.
But lots of tracks and either career or online club mode would make up for this. At least for me. And it does make a Forza 6 purchase a lot more likely down the road. But maybe SMS driving model will be too awesome to give up. The cockpit cams in the shift games are still the best, and it could make driving in Forza a step back.

Just got home and checked OS, he edited his post and said apparently the demo isn't up or maybe on the Hong Kong store he said. I also checked the UK store and it was NOT there. Sorry, should have checked myself.

Agree 100 percent. I don't want to compete in street-spec vehicles. I want to race in proper racing cars. Still will be a great game.Jimmydeicide wrote:I wish it didnt have any regular cars we already have Forza and GT for that, this is a racing game lets race proper race cars yeh.

Re: Project Cars
I toddled along to a branch of GAME while out and about today and had a very quick go on Project Cars. No song and dance being made about it whatsoever - in fact, someone had quit out of it to play a FIFA demo so I had to scroll through a few menus to see if PCars was even available.
What's on show in GAME is a limited-ish PS4 demo. All cars and tracks are available to try in practice or a quick race, but you're locked to auto gears, full racing line visual aids and some driving aids. I couldn't get into a menu to see exactly what, but I definitely had traction control, ABS and, I think, some kind of stability assistance.
Consequently, I can't tell you much more than you already know. I ran a 5 minute quali session and very brief race at Oulton Park in a Zakspeed Capri. I only had 19 AI cars but there was no slowdown, FPS seemed consistent and draw distance terrific. The AI cars were a bit nutty off the start but seemed fine once the race got going on the few occasions I interacted with them, steering by pad was on the twitchy side of controllable but I felt like I'd get on top of it properly with a bit of practice, and...oh, the load times seemed a bit long, but I've no idea what build of the game is represented, how much optimisation was left to do or what.
In quali, my lap times kept being invalidated for going off-course, which is fine as a corner-cutting deterrent but irritating when I've lost time running wide - the obvious solution, though, is to stay on the course...
I can't stress enough how much the above represents Tjungin' it, mind. The most worthwhile thing I can tell you is that playing the in-store demo hasn't made me worried about pre-ordering.

Thanks for the mini review. I don't think I even have to worry about "tjungin" this one, it's going to be very good.GB_Simo wrote:

I'd tend to agree, Tim. Keeping my own little hype train rolling here with some XBox One footage, from a recent but not final build, that I can't work out how to embed: http://youtu.be/YqPdHY3Op3o

Re: Project Cars
That I can do, mate, but the YouTube app for iPad has a great many ways of preventing the budding forum poster from accessing the full link, some of which I could probably have bypassed had I not had so much cider this evening. Thanks for sorting that - much appreciated.
While Alan's commentary mentions finding the XB1 controls a little more sensitive than PS4, it still appears as though the game is playable enough with a pad, which wasn't the case with earlier XB1 builds. I've read elsewhere that the PC version doesn't fare so well in the joypad support stakes, so to hear that the XB1 version is now more controllable is big news for those of us who don't own a console-compatible wheel.
Is it next week yet?
