I'm not a huge baseball fan, but the demo did something to get my attention. I put it on my Gamefly queue and I saw that they mailed it out today. I should have it Thursday. I haven't played a baseball game since The Show 06, on my PS2, which I played about 20 games on last year and still dug it.

Are you going to break down and get it? :)
Nah, it's just no fun buying a new baseball game unless to get it you have to drive 2 hours to get to a third world swap meet where the video games are being sold in a booth next to an assortment of assault rifles, and where you feel compelled to not make eye contact with the guy behind the counter because he reminds you of the soup nazi from Seinfeld...

That being said, can't wait for next year!! :D

Don't forget, it being a cash only, no tax, no receipt, transaction. At least the rims were still on your car when we got back to the parking lot.

I thought pitching gestures didn't matter anymore???

Also, is there a way to use last year's piching method, where you have to worry about release point?

Jack, the release point doesn't matter but the gestures do. Yes you can option out to the 3step pitching from 2k8.

Can someone explain the difference between 2 step and 3 step pitching and are both included in 2K9?

The feeling when you jack a homer in this game is sweet. The crack of the bat, the rumble of the controller...ahh.

I think I'm really gonna dig this game...

Wow, IGN is not in love with it.

Closing Comments
Major League Baseball 2K9 fixes some of the issues from the past and sets the groundwork for a great game, but there are far too many bugs to recommend. If you have to have a baseball game this year and only own a 360, you may want to wait for the newly revealed Bigs 2. Those who own a PS3, well, your choice is fairly clear. MLB 2K9 is an enjoyable game for a casual fan, but those who are really dedicated to baseball are certain to find the bad AI annoying. Let's hope next year 2K Sports can deliver a game worthy of baseball's immense fan base.

2 Step you just do the 2 gesture moves for any particular pitch. 3 step you do the gestures, plus take into consideration the release point or release of the stick

Looking to IGN for a review of a sports game is like going to Al Sharpton for hair tips-you can do it, but...WHY?!?!

Cause it can be amusing when IGN reviews a game. Just do a search on Avi Burk and Football Manager and let the hilarity ensue.

Plus this is the man, Hilary "I quit doing sports reviews to start an Anime section for IGN" Goldstein. Guess he got bored of that and is back to being the Xbox editor.

I do not care if he liked it or not, what score it got or if he plans to rub it across his genitals before he goes to bed, because it was so freaking great. I DO NOT WANT PEOPLE WHO OBSESS OVER ANIME REVIEWING SPORTS GAMES. It is simply wrong on far too many levels.

Bad IGN, Bad.

IGN sometimes misses the boat with its reviews but I think in the case of 2K9 it is a fair review. The enormous amount of bugs are ridiculous. 2K really needs to put in better quality control.

I'm curious....when you copy the game to your hard drive, is the CD no longer needed? If that's true, why can't you just rip it and return it or sell it?

Seems like zone/cursor hitting is the way to go this year. The default method is way too easy and zone hitting is much more challenging. There is a learning curve, but you get the hang of it after a while and then it gets fun.
With the default method, you will never strike out.

The CPU is kicking my butt on ALLSTAR....I might have to go back down a level for a while.

FUN game so far :)

Between your avatar and Teal's, I keep getting these visions of "The Blue Oyster Bar" rumbling around in the back of my head. Please you two, make the scary images go away.

Yes, no must still have the game. Ripping it just gives u far less loading times, less wear & tear on the DVD Drive (less heat too).

Sooo, played a few games & it's fun. The only issue I saw was a few obvious 'outs' at first, that were called 'safe'. No idea why.

Also been able to get some K's against the AI (both swinging & looking). Good times.
