MLB 2K9 Official Thread of 360 owners fingers crossed

I think one of the funniest things is that people are picking 2K9 apart for all the little issues and then I see those "MLB the show 09" videos and that whole animation with the pitchers releasing the ball when pitching is downright ugly but that doesn't bother anybody.

Do you remember the M-Network version of Intelevision baseball for the Atari 2600? there was a glitch in that game where if the ball was hit to your left fielder if you timed it just right with your fielder and pushed down on the joystick and hit the orange button....the ball would shoot back across the screen and then take a nose dive down across homeplate giving a homerun to your opponent!

Nice pic of Charlie Daniels you've got there, bro.

The stuff at OS is funny, but the irony to the game is that about a month from now, noone will be playing either game! They'll just move on to the next game to criticize. I think I heard PK say this one time, "Do you watch the entire game or just watch the highlights on Sportscenter" Big difference, but that's how the gamers are today. Buy a demo, criticize the hell out of it without picking up the real game and putting it through the paces.
PC Game will be getting a DEMO according to Ronnie in a day or so. Their poor web servers could not handle hosting a 1.5 GB demo.
And finally a review on the game. Without a score to boot, I like this guy, screw metacritic.

Saw the latest commercial for 2K9 last night during 24... Can't find it on Youtube so I can't provide a link, but it had a virtual Linecum following The real Tim Linecum around... Really well done, one of the best video game commercials I've seen in a while.

So far people seem to be liking the game and more importantly having fun with it. That's all I ask from a baseball title. Looking forward to picking this up tonight. I'm sick of the Phillies and the Rays...those will be the last two teams that take the field in my retail version!

First Impressions. Patch is available as well as a roster update.
Just finished my first game Cubs (me) vs Cards at Wrigley. I lost 5-2. Zambrano went 7 innings 7ks (0 looking, but got the cpu to chase quite a few out of the zone) 4 runs 13 hits. Pujos, Glaus and Ludwick all homered for the Cards.
I really like the analog hitting. This is the first time I've really given it a try. I just use the default, no cursor. The two step analog pitching is really simple to use, no worry about when to release. They did change the gestures of most of the pitches. Simple to switch your fielders by pushing the A button, but wish it was on the triggers, its a little awkward for me to switch from the analog stick down to the buttons.
The game runs pretty smooth. Players and coaches seem robotic though when doing casual routine movements, quickly adjusting angles when walking. This is the best version of Wrigley I've seen just because a stadium pet peeve of mine was fixed. The space or lack thereof, between the foul lines and the walls. small thing, but it always irritated me.
Lots of line drive hits to the infielders. A hard hit ball can get past a fielder pretty quick though , especially if you make a mistake in direction and then try to recover. CPu will take pitches if you "pitch", will chase pitches out of the zone and will hit breaking pitches, though I did make Pujols look pretty bad on a couple Carlos Marmol power curves. I messed up on my pitching gesture a couple of times, one resulted in a wild pitch over the catcher and the ump and the other resulted in a Pujols homer.
I think the game is a major upgrade over 2k8. To most that's probably not saying a lot, but I'm an admitted fan of the 2k series. I played a full season of 2k8, and don't see anything major that would keep me from playing a season in 2k9.
