Yup, it's that simple. You can even set the TV's HDMI port to be your sound source for the PC, so you can switch around from PC speakers to a different display/sound output. I had my rig running on 3 monitors at my desk, and a long HDMI cable over to the main TV for when I wanted to watch a streamed broadcast online or play a controller-centric game on my PC.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Funny enough while flipping through flipboard I ran into this review of the Alpha. The base model performs well and the UI they added sounds interesting.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Not always that simple. Depends if your video card passes audio over HDMI...otherwise it'll be silent. Some don't. Even if it does, sometimes you need to enable it in the drivers.Rodster wrote:Yup it's that simple. Connect the HDMI cable to the back of your video card and the other end to your HDTV. Select the HDMI input port on your TV and that's it.Pete1210 wrote:Is it as simple as using an HDMI cable? I bought a 25 foot HDMI cable about a year ago just for that purpose, but haven't tried it yet.

....raises hand......however, I have not upgraded my PC since 2007 or so and am running Intel dual core 6850 and ATI 4870X2 and I don;t even have an HDMI port as I had to use a DVI-D to HDMI cable to use my TV.........I'll slink back into my hole now....LOLTCrouch wrote:Who the hell has one of those cards in this day and age?

Hopefully this make that goddam Xbox logo in the top right corner transparent also. That f*cking thing burned into my Panasonic Plasma TV even with being careful and having the screen shift/orbitor function set to 'on' in the TV. Ugh...

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I doubt it as it's a bundle like what MS has been doing by bundling their games with a console.

That's not supposed to be up there. Happened to me once (the logo, not the burn-in). Do a hard reset and unplug and re-plug your kinect.Spooky wrote:Hopefully this make that goddam Xbox logo in the top right corner transparent also. Are you sure??? Even when in the "dashboard"? I thought it was always supposed to be there kind of "listening"...!? I'm talking about the little white Xbox logo/icon...

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Yeah, that logo is always there in the dashboard, just like the profile box on the left. Rob is probably talking about rare glitch where the logo remains, even while watching TV. And for that, a hard reset fixes it.
It's funny, though. I have always stuck with LCD because of fear of burn ins. No matter how many times videophiles assure me that burn in doesn't exist anymore, I still see stuff like this. And I will be the guy the leaves something on
But really, my TV is diagnonal from our large front room window that faces south. It gets sun all day, and LCDs do handle that better.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I did make that assumption. I don't keep it on the dashboard very long, so it didn't occur to me that it would be on long enough to burn in without it being that glitch.Aristo wrote:Yeah, that logo is always there in the dashboard, just like the profile box on the left. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
To be fair - I am not exactly sure it is permanent "burn in" as it might be more of a longer term "ghosting". As I think it's beginning to become less and less apparent over the course of a few weeks - but is still there to some extent if I really look for it.
The thing is that I would be done playing something, go back to the dashboard, go do a few things around the house and come back 15-20 min later. Do that a few times and there it was. The Xbox does not go into a dim screen mode for at least 15 min it seems which is not quick enough.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Spooky, how old is your plasma? If you have a relatively new one, I doubt you have burn in, just some image retention. If you really have to look for it (like you see it if the TV is on with no signal, but not during regular use), I wouldn't worry about it. It is really difficult to permanently burn an image on a plasma these days. Depending on the type of image, it may be harder to get rid of (I've had issues with EA logos in the past on Madden), but it should go away.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It's a 2013 Panny Vera. The nice one. So, yeah - I agree that it should not be burn in, but man - it's been there a lot longer than I would have thought. I can pretty easily see it on a bright static screen but sometime even notice it on the grass during a football game. I do think it's getting better so I guess it will just take time. I don't watch a lot of TV either which I guess is making it take longer to fade.Brando70 wrote:Spooky, how old is your plasma? Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
