Week of February 20: More details on the Online Country Clubs
I am hearing from those who attended the TW Community Day event(s) recently that the Online Country Clubs feature is supposed to be very cool and might be just what DSP needs for a true place to play online Golf with....
Sounds awesome. I'll be going 360 this year. Went with PS3 last year because of the Move but it's back to the 360 this year.
Pretty cool video of Tiger giving insight to the developers.
Last year I went the PS3 route too, because of CE and the move. But with CE present for the 360 and a couple of golfers here, I am hoping to meet you dudes at the country club. Not looking forward re- purchasing for the extra courses though.

I'll most likely get this years version also for the DSP country club and the Kinect. At least the EA season pass discount will take a minor sting out of repurchasing the extra courses.

Pretty interesting article...I especially liked the following:
And while golfers can take their cuts with empty hands to mimic their real swings, one thing the Kinect also enables you to do is to put a real club or a weighted shaft in your hands, and when you swing with the real club (if you have enough room, that is), the camera will take that exact swing and put it into the game. The Kinect camera is there to track your hand, hips, and arm movements, so while it doesn't pickup the club (concentrating on the player's skeleton instead), it enables you to take your natural swing to the video game, rather than simply pretending to swing a club and going through the motions with empty hands.

I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the info Divot!

I'm getting an error...article not there any more. Anyone else? The info posted sounds great though.
I found Divot's post over at OS and read it. Sounds great. I do have a question. Being that it tracks your body and not a "club", or the Move in the PS3's case, I'm wondering how it will deal with squaring the club up on shots. On the PS3 with Move if you twist the Move in your hands the club moves the same way...creating a slice/hook. Wonder how the Kinect is going to handle that.
EA is set to release info on the Kinect tomorrow. Hopefully they will have some video footage.
Looks great. I want to know how it is going to detect bad swings resulting in hooks, fades, etc. I guess what I am saying is I dont want it to be too easy.
For me, it'll be interesting to see if the Kinect is fast and accurate enough for tracking and displaying different swings. In the video, there was a bit of a lag when the producer made a swing. We shall see. Still, will buy the CE version for sure.
From the sound of it, at the higher difficulty levels, it won't be easy. Looks also like it tracks the swing plane, and it might be more difficult to stay within the swing plane on the jacked up difficulty. I guess we'll see, but for my part, just being able to walk a virtual Augusta will be a real treat.
In that video with Tiger, they said that they were tweaking it, and admitted to the lag, but were working on 1:1 for release, so that should hopefully ease concerns with the lag.

BTW, I want the game now
Absolutely!!!!!!
One of my most played games is TW11 for the Wii and it is amazing because of the wm+. Terrific challenge!
I even have TW12 for the Wii but haven't touched it because I am still enjoying 11 so much and have plenty left to do with it.
One of he best and most underrated games of all time IMO.
If the Kinect can realistically represent the golf swing the way the wm+ does I will be doing backflips down the street...but as before, I am sceptical.
I hope it's challenging. I love the way putting looks. Last year I hated the putting mechanic. Looks like its back to more feel on putts - which is great. In actual golf I gauge my distances with my backswing and pace. If that is what this does I'll be happier than a puppy with two peckers .
Also, is it just me or does Tiger look like he is in phenomenal shape. Much trimmer than last year.
