Thin Mints are the best. Do they have whole grain ones made with unrefined sugar yet? Because then I can eat them again.

So they must have seasons?

I noticed girl scouts selling at the stores yesterday. Some of them seemed a little too old to still be in the scouts.

At the office, it´s usually the parents who pimp the cookies to co-workers.

You can keep your thin mints. I´ll take the Scot T´s

I don´t much care for American type cookies myself...too sweet. I usually buy imported German or Italian cookies, which are surprisingly not expensive if you go to the right places. What can I say, I just prefer European vanilla and chocolate flavor, as well as drier types of things as opposed to overly complicated and sweet cookies.

Parker (aka Resin): This is an honest question, not a flame.

Why do you live in North America? You´re obviously a European at heart. It must be your job that keeps you here. Is it worth it?
Liking foreign-cookies makes me anti-American? I like food from all over the world, including American things.

You probably know from the other board that my political viewpoints are usually left of the mainstream so I guess it´s natural that I tend to concern myself with other parts of the world. But I am accepted enough here and since I don´t have any roots in Europe, I don´t plan on leaving. Especially if I get the chance to see Bush lose. Sadly, I have not traveled abroad nearly as much as I would like.

I do have some issues with the boy scouts, I believe them to be a discriminatory organization but I won´t get into that. I´m not as familiar with the girl scouts.

[ This message was edited by: Parker on 02-03-2004 07:27 ]

Hmmmmm carbs. Gotta think many people might take a two or three week hiatus from their diets to enjoy these delicious treats.
It´s ok. You can eat carbs and be healthy. Since we are in the mode of comparing cultures, I´d point out that the obesity rate of Greeks or Italians is less than half of what it is here and they have been eating a mediterranean diet that it is high on carbs for centuries. Even though I´m in shape, my metabolism is not the best, but I eat tons of pasta and so-called bad foods by Atkins. I´m not much of a meat-eater.

Hey, you´re not going to see me give up breads, pastas and the like anytime soon. My metabolism is slowly catching up with me, but if you excercise and eat right that´s all that matters. I think it´s rather pathetic people think they can cut out carbs or whatever but they don´t have to excercise. That I´ll never understand.

I heard the first couple of Starbucks opened in Paris and they are big hits over there. It could be just American tourists or it could be some of the locals finding out that if they´re going to pay 3 euros for a demi-tasse of espresso, they might as well get a 16 oz latte or mocha from Starbucks instead.

Actually, I heard the first one is near the Opera and there are locals in there.

The second one is supposedly near Montparnasse.

A lot of Parisians also patronize McDonalds apparently. Yeah you´re right about cafe society. However, Paris is the number one tourist destination so a lot of that cafe society is designed to cater to tourists anyways.
