I was really on the fence with this one, as I don't think the small cards are very intrusive. But ultimately I agree that they would tend to clutter up posts if a lot of people start posting them. I liked DB's idea of having a gamercard sticky.

I guess the way the vote is going , it may just go down to the wire, but I like things the way it is now. Status quo for me. NO.

I'd like it if we could somehow make the small version our avatar. That way, there's no extra clutter added to sigs.

That way if someone wants to look at everyone's gamertag, there is a nice central location that we can do that. Just set it to link to it and everytime someone re-loads the page or enters the "sticky" they will get everyones tag in it's updated form.
There's a thread similar to this over at OS. I suggest going that route as well.

I vote "No".
I agree in both,..... NO.

It cant hurt.
Can it be anymore intrusive than Dbs pointless thread policing?
I vote Yes.

So, motion narrowly defeated?

Can we call this another DSP schism?

Can't ever have too many schisms, I always say...

I think that anytime you have a poll like this...if you've got even 30-40% against it, it's gotta swing that way. If it was like 10-1 for it, then of course you go that way. It's usually better to keep things how they are. Most are afraid of change...especially when it's an intrusive change. That also just has a tendancy to piss people off. Someone just needs to go ahead and create a nice Sticky for the gamercards. They are awesome, so they should be viewable...without a doubt. Just not in the everyday forum. Justice has prevailed.

Yeah, I voted yes, but with so many no votes, it should definitely be a no. With something that so many are against like that, you shouldn't make it a positive.

I just want to show off my 3000-something gamerscore

Achievement whore.

Someone make a sticky thread for the gamercards then, if this issue is dead/final. Also, it would be nice to make it gamercards only, no extra comments or text, just the pics (kinda like they did at OS forums, keeps it way cleaner).

Might want to tell people how to do it. You're bound to have it come up in that other thread since most don't know how.

Well, if I knew that I would have included mine.

Someone explain it and I'll add the info to the first post.

The html code that they give you at xbox.com doesn't work on this forum.

You can go hear and get a BBcode friendly pic that updates:

http://mygamercard.net/

I posted mine in the sticky thread if you want an example.

"NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!!!"

As of Thursday, it has been one full week since I started this poll and it is now currently 29-27 in favor FOR. I totally forgot about this thread after it fell off the front page...but thanks to you guys who bumped it, it seems like we got some extra votes in.

I've already emailed Jared about this, and of course he has the final say. Unless he decides otherwise, then I'm officially calling the poll "closed" and looking at these results as a YES for slim gamertags in sigs. 8)

Here is the code for the slimtags (where xxx is your gamertag):

[img]http://www.liveinsanantonio.net/xbox/xxx.slim.jpg[/img][/url]

I want to thank everyone who participated...I hope there are no "sour grapes" out there as a result of this. Honestly if something like this is gonna make somebody leave the forum, then that's a little much. I say we give it a few months and if it bothers too many people, we can always revote on it. I'm just glad that the majority of folks here are at least in favor of giving people the CHOICE to do something that is entirely OPTIONAL.

I'm pretty sure when the polls closed this was shot down.

Regardless, it IS showing that more people are FOR it than AGAINST it. I think one full week is good...I'm sure that if I closed the polls early with the FORS leading, you would still be upset.

I wouldn't say I'm "upset." I just totally agree with TCrouch. I can't believe we would change forum policy because the FORS got 2 measly extra votes.

Hopefully, even the people that voted FOR the change will just refrain from including it in their sigs since it annoys so many people and includes NO useful information.

First of all, I apologize for calling you upset.

Secondly, I didn't say a peep when the FORS were down by 1-2 "measly" votes, and would've just accepted the fact that this thread dropped off from the front page. However, people bumped it up because they wanted their vote to count, and I'm gonna go with the results of that.

Unfortunately, in a close poll like this, there's gonna be 49% of the folks that are gonna be unhappy either way. But that's why we have a poll...whether it's 51-49 or 99-1, it's still what the MAJORITY of the people want.

I'm sorry if it "annoys" you so much and that you feel it contains "no useful info"...that's your OPINION. It may seem by reading this thread that "so many people" are against it but I disagree...it's just that the people against it were just OVERLY outspoken about it. But the FACT is that the numbers don't lie...there ARE people who want to be able to do this.

So if in the next couple of days the 'nays' pass the 'fors', we'll have everyone remove the tags, right?

Nope...I wouldn't put it past some of you guys to create new accounts just for the sake of voting AGAINST.
