Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Heard that the unknown Serbian guy that Djokovic would have played in the first round has made it to the fourth round. So he's earned about $250k as a result. Number 77 in the world so obviously an excellent player but he has definitely taken advantage. I expected Sonego to come through against him...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Cilic has been playing very well for a few months now but he was awesome today against Rublev. Reminded me of Flushing Meadows 2014. Rublev has a deserved reputation as a big hitter but he got blown away today. Thought Amanda Anisimova did very well to close it out against Naomi Osaka. She was hitt...

Re: eFootball

Stick a fork in this series because it looks like it is over. Wow ! 8O https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2021-09-30-efootball-is-clearly-not-ready-for-its-bizarre-launch The title from Eurogamer says it all: "eFootball is clearly not ready for its bizarre launch" Definitely worrying. And a shame, ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

It has been a great US Open 10s. Emma made history, and if you consider that she was outside the world's top 300 before qualifying for Wimbledon and making the fourth round there, her achievement is up there with any in the history of tennis. For an 18 year old ranked around 150 before the US Open t...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

I am still out of town until late Saturday and have told my kids to record the historic weekend event. Like most I am somehow more intrigued about the women’s finals tomorrow than Novak becoming the greatest player ever. Having said that I think Medvedev is ready for a 5 set match, and perhaps a hu...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

I think I'm more excited about the Hernandez vs. Raducanu finals match than the men's draw. Great tennis last night! Unbelievable that neither of them are ranked and they're both teenagers. I'll never understand why the men's final has to be played on the same day as the opening weekend for the NFL...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Why are the matches tonight at 3 and 7 EST? Should be 6 and 9! Strikes me that it could have something to do with attracting the largest possible global TV audience. For example, 3 pm in New York is 9 pm in most of continental Europe, meaning that the first of the two semis will have optimal viewer...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Great performance again by Fernandez. Sabalenka really caved in with those double faults in the final game and Emma Raducanu found a goldmine in Sakkaris inability to defend on the forehand side. Just finished watching the match and Emma hit just about every serve to Sakkari's forehand. Should be a ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Managed to put a complete jinx on Alcaraz with my last post. Still, after this tournament, I definitely see what all the fuss is about. Leylah Fernandez played great 10s. Can't believe the power she seems to generate with such a slight frame. Just great technique I guess. Svitolina kept coming back ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Despite the absence of Federer and Nadal, S. Williams in the ladies draw, this has been one of the most exciting, unpredictable and tumultuous US Opens I watched in a while. So many new faces coming up, Carlos Alcatraz upsetting Tsitsipas a couple of nights ago, Canadian teen sensation Fernandez up...

Re: eFootball

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. I'm hoping it's not the beginning of the end for offline play. If the idea is that you can download and pay for the game modes that interest you, such as Master League, that'd be fine by me.

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

I saw a clip where he got a crucial point because his opponent made an unforced error. Then he was pumping his arms and loudly celebrating. This is why people don't like Djoko, because he's a troll. One thing to celebrate if you make a great play. Even though the point going to him has the same ben...

Really enjoying playing a Master League in PES 2021 Season Update. The approach of fine-tuning PES 2020 really worked out well IMO. Will check out that 2022 demo.

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Must be so difficult being N. Djokovic these days. Despite being clearly the #1 player in the past few years, still people don’t give him the proper credit that he deserves. Just won the semis vs upcoming Canadian kid Shapovalov in straight tough sets and will probably equal the win in GS trophies ...

Re: Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

Noob question about digital games, which I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me with. If I buy a game from the Xbox store to play on my One X, can I just download it again (without paying for it again) if I upgrade to the Series X or my One X implodes and I need to replace it or whatever? Yes....

Re: Coronavirus Suggestions

The thing about COVID-19 is the unknown unknowns. The flu comparisons are facile because, as bad as the flu is, we have immunizations that can both limit its spread and minimize its intensity in those who get immunized. The idea that it only kills old or sick people is generally true...except when ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Djokovic looked down and out at the beginning of the fourth. He spoke of dehydration in his press conference. And also of being the No. 1 of all time. Rafa and Roger have shied away from placing importance on the issue of most grand slam title wins in history but Novak has now openly spoken of it as...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Roger would be the first person to tell you that he was very lucky to make it into the semis. Groin issues and all, you could tell that he wasn’t playing his best tennis. Not one, not two, not three, but seven huge match points saved in his favor to completely turn the match into a thrilling five s...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

Kachanov-Kyrgios match was outstanding, just don’t know about Nike’s latest fashion though. The Aussie looked like a clown with those flashy shorts and the Russian was wearing nurse pyjamas. Kyrgios has all the tools to beat the top three, if only he took the game more seriously. Haha, agree on all...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread

The tiebreak in the fifth set between John Millman and the great Federer was for the ages. Down 8-4, I thought The Aussie had all the momentum to close the match, he did beat the Swiss man before at the US Open, has heavy strokes and you could tell that Federer was never comfortable on the court. T...
