Yeah, I don't get it. At no time in this string of seasons have they not been the two best teams.

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot about UCF

Re: NFL 2018

Watching real football players literally kill themselves to win a contest only to have it decided by kickers is among the most unreasonable things in all of sports. It was the OL that failed, though. But that's cool, the kicker still got booed off the field. The OL failed because he has too weak a ...

Re: NFL 2018

It's been 6 hours and that game is still a 2x4 across my solar plexus every time I think of it. Both sides of the ball did what they had to do to win that game. Watching real football players literally kill themselves to win a contest only to have it decided by kickers is among the most unreasonabl...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

Yeah, Fernandinho, Bernardo and Sane were all better than Sterling. As usual, he's all speed and no product. He's soccer John Wall, basically. Hell of a match. So many sliver-thin moments. Two balls hit the inside of the post, one goes in and one doesn't. How Stone's clearance off the line didn't hi...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

Sorry if I was unclear. I'm sure that he would do well if given the time under Sarri. I don't see Sarri lasting any longer than anyone else has at Chelsea of late. Maybe the next manager is a good developer of talent, but I think it's as likely that the next manager is a retrograde failure like Hidd...

Pulisic to Chelsea is a damn shame. Sarri is a fine manager, but I don't expect him to last there.

Re: NFL 2018

NFL Network replayed the Rams game today and I had it on while working. Looks to me like Gurley is hurt. There were holes to be hit and tackles to be shed, and he was doing neither at anywhere near the level he was earlier in the year. Sometimes I think we over-analyze this league. 99% of the answer...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

Give Shearer or sturridge for that matter the chances Mane and Salah create for themselves and these games wouldnt be so close and giving you heart attacks. Whatever your stats are Rob and go on dig some up on shearer and tell me Salah's are the same , I'm still going to say he should score more an...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

He had a hat-trick of bad misses, so of course he didn't have a good game. I don't know if it rises to terrible, in that he was making the runs, creating chances and worked his ass off. I've seen plenty of games from notionally good forwards where that wasn't the case. But yeah, he was probably no b...

You guys are out of you Goddamned minds. Everybody misses sitters. Every week in every league there are a TON of missed tap-ins. A few years ago, in an effort to get the dipshit parents of the girls whom I coach to stop giving their kids a hard time, I put together a video of just Messi and Ro...

Re: NFL 2018

Nagy out-coached McVay, but I can't believe we're getting "he should've given the ball to Gurley more" takes in 2018. This is a fossilized idea from the days when running the ball on 80% of the plays was thought to eventually wear down a defense, even though this idea has been proven false for decad...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

It's great, probably the craziest, but there are plenty of insanely tribal rivalries: Palmeiras-Corinthians, Flu-Fla, Rangers-Celtic, the Istanbul derby... But I'd rather watch one of the "boring" EPL derbys featuring the most elite players than two fired-up fanbases cheering on teams comprised of h...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

That goal was perfection after the Everton fans threw a flare into the handicap section of Liverpool supporters thinking they'd earned a draw moments before conceding, and immediately after their ridiculous "murderers" chant. "Friendly derby" my a$$

Re: Rockstar announces Red Dead Redemption - PS3/360

You have to approach VERY slowly, constantly hitting X as soon as it starts to get jittery. If you move quicker than a snail's pace, it spooks and runs off. Once you get close enough to calm it and can mount it, then you have the old RDR1-style section where you have to avoid getting bucked off to ...

Re: Rockstar announces Red Dead Redemption - PS3/360

The "quick travel" via cinematic camera just adds so much to the game. The ability to sit back and chill, checking out the scenery rather than worrying about managing the horse, tracking the route etc. is perfect for this game. Frames the whole experience in a totally different way.
