Re: Elden Ring

I have played through the previous 4 Soul games varying amounts of times and after about 20 hours I am going to say I love this game. At least for now. I can also say that is easily the most player friendly of the lot. I was thinking of you quite a bit while playing it so far. You're the only guy I...

Re: Elden Ring

I typically get put off on Souls-likes after a while. They're fun at first, but grinding through the same enemies over and over just to get back to whatever killed me eventually wears on me and I gave up. This one is different, because that open world means I can finally go AROUND the tedious stuff ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

The debate about VR/flat screens is close to my heart...I think I've switched back and forth between VR and flat screens 5 times in the past 6 years. The depth perception is so nice in VR, but comfort/sweaty head makes it impossible to run for long endurance stints. I do know ACC had abysmal perform...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I don't doubt it. TK told me he wasn't a fan of the Indycars on iRacing... at all lol.

It's the interface I dislike most in rF2.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I ran that IR18 combo at Indy Road a few months back in a trophy race on iRacing....that is a hell of a combo. So, so fun. Haven't tried rFactor 2 in years, though. I know they just revamped the UI, but...meh.

Re: NFL Season 2021-22

I could be wrong, but I thought the "home" team had to agree to go to London and miss a home game. So the only ones willing to lose out on a home game with their fans in the home stadiums are the shitty teams that don't sell out the stadium anyway. So we always get a really crappy "home" team in a L...

Re: Far Cry 6

I did play it for like an hour. For whatever reason, I've been swallowed up whole by Diablo 3 again (mostly the wife being all into it, so we co-op on the couch a ton on side-by-side XBoxes and TVs). Then any time I'm not doing that, I'm in iRacing. Doesn't seem to be a lot of room for other games a...

Re: NFL Season 2021-22

I spent all last night just going "I bet Paul is happier than a puppy with two peters right now"

Nothing I like more than seeing the Chiefs get smoked (other than a Raider win, but that almost never happens).

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

That's awesome, Dave! A little late on this, but still congrats. Hope you got it set up and it's everything you hoped for :) I'm still on iRacing weekly with hosted races or league events (my league moved to the Lotus 79 this season, so that's been an interesting learning curve) and still doing all ...

Re: Diablo III

What's funny is all playing D2 Resurrected did for me (or my wife) is make us want to go back and play Diablo 3 again, so we have been. D2 is so punishing on your time and NOT built for co-op. No personal loot, so if you play with friends who just ninja-grab everything, they pick up all the stuff an...

Was that online or offline cfm?

What platform are you playing on? I've only done about 7 games in a franchise on PC, and even fewer on the Series X. But I might want to wait a while if stuff like that is going on.

Re: Madden 22

Are we at a point where we could potentially do a multiplayer franchise like yesteryear with this? It'd be interesting. I haven't played against humans in years, it feels like, other than my friend who barely knows how to play Madden. Most of those games are just tutorials explaining stuff to somebo...

Re: Madden 22

Granted, it's a single game (the first I've played that wasn't Face of the Franchise) on Series X, but it was definitely a trip. Preseason against the Seahawks in franchise mode...and the movement is indeed much crisper than the PC--but that made the game easier than on PC in my experience. I like t...

Re: Madden 22

Totally disagree, I played a ton of 21 on the PC I see or feel no difference at all. I'm also pretty sure I read somewhere where it is exactly the same as last year. Even if there are slight tweaks, not sure how anyone could play it after trying the X/S version. I can move up and down the field at ...

Re: Madden 22

Weird, I thought the PC version felt completely different than 21. I had spent the past 2 or 3 weeks playing a buddy every night in Madden 21. We played like 4 games last night in 22 and the change of direction and overall player control is night and day. I don't think he ever rushed for 50 yards ag...

Re: EA/Codemasters F1 2021

I'm not into F1 games at all, but I've enjoyed Braking Point quite a bit. Cars are still way too heavy/floaty at the front end for a F1 machine. F3 cars are ten times worse. AI is still too passive but I've had fun with the Braking Point mode almost exclusively to this point. If only they'd ever hav...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Congrats, man! Fanatec is usually pretty spot-on when it comes to the release day stuff. When they sent me the email, the release window was like September 10th or something. Then that wave sells, and they move the date back for each wave. So you should get it right when they claim you should. I thi...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Honestly, until you reach a certain "tier" (not really skill level but just information level, I guess), you'd never have a problem with Fanatec assuming something doesn't break. I physically broke their SQ shifter and had my Clubsport V2 go out on me and support was completely useless. There are so...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

The danger with Fanatec...once you're "in" the ecosystem, it's very tough to get out. If you console race, it's kind of a no-brainer, because it just works. But I literally just replaced every bit of Fanatec kit I had in the past couple of months, and breaking out of the ecosystem was equivalent to ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

In that case, any 8020 rig would be far and away the best choice, IMO. You never need an upgrade as they can handle load cell or hydraulic pedals, regular or DD wheelbases--everything can move around to fit as your needs change. I've got my rig mounted up with the DD2, hydraulic brakes, a shifter an...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Yeah there are a few options if you go a couple hundred bucks more. The need to collapse/hide it makes it difficult, though. Something like the Trak Racer TR80 would be good for a dedicated rig, but I actually completely forgot about this 'budget' rig that is like $270. The ergonomics aren't great, ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I could talk about this stuff all day, but for $400 you're kind of in no-man's land. Sim-Lab just unveiled a wheelstand that could definitely work: https://sim-lab.eu/shop/product/ws-pro-wheel-stand-1118?category=26#attr=1075 You could rig up any sort of seat to the unit (I know guys that literally ...
