What kills me is that this scenario was totally predicted and authorities were totally unprepared. They saw this thing coming long enough in advance to marshall some troops and supplies and get them ready to drop in and take control if necessary. It seems the disaster recovery plan for a scenario th...

It is times like this when I truly appreciate how lucky I am having a short commute and the option of riding my bike or public transit. I haven't driven my car to work since April. The silver lining in the gas price cloud is that it has been a boon for my health. Riding my bike has dropped my BP fro...

From the National Weather Service: The Good News: THESE OBSERVATIONS SUGGEST THAT THERE COULD BE SOME WEAKENING OF KATRINA PRIOR TO LANDFALL. The Bad News: ALL THIS IS RELATIVE...HOWEVER...AND KATRINA IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE OF AT LEAST CATEGORY FOUR INTENSITY WHEN IT REACHES THE COAST. AN EYEWALL R...

First you need at least a DSL or cable connection. Second, you need at least Windows Media Player 9. Third, download and install PPLive from here. PLEASE right click save as. http://webpages.charter.net/themightypuck/PPLiveSetup.EXE After PPLive installs, run it. A little silver P icon will appear i...

Just watched Newcastle ManU. I'm still looking around but they have italian, la liga, pl. It is P2P so things start slow but after a few minutes no jitter at all.
Maxxed has a thread about this stuff.

OT: Learning Chinese
I've just discovered PPLive. Watched the Chelsea game yesterday on ESPN in English. Barcelona in Chinese. I'm amazed how well this stuff works. No idea how much crap the client is allowing l33t0r HaX0r5 to to to my system but so far so good.

I need to polish up my resume seeing as I work for a non ILEC ISP. Yeah the only ones doing Internet access now are the ILECs, the cable companies and cities. Some cities are putting up wifi mesh networks and reselling to ISPs. Smaller ISPs, I gather, as all the big companies are screaming bloody m...

This thread is funny. But Roxy Music rocked before Eno left and they didn't totally suck afterwards. Plus all those Helmut Newton/Jerry Hall album covers didn't (or was it just Siren). As for Eno, hard to say Another Green World and Here Come the Warm Jets have SOUL when Al Green was pumping out cla...
