Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Well Serena lost but she upstaged the winner. Nobody dares suggest she may have been in the wrong. Too bad Nadal had to retire. It might have been a better Final if he made it there. She was in the wrong. Classless. She may have a point and I get it. Maybe bring it up in the press conference more i...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Been an interesting US Open. Heat and humidity seem to be big factors in the outcomes. Didn't know allowed tie breaks in the fifth set of matches. But the conditions seem to be making some of these matches a battle of attrition. Definitely. It took a toll on RF a couple of nights before, I don’t kn...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
The Anderson-Isner match was in-humane. And so far the other big semis seems to heading towards 5 arduous tough sets. After spending 6 1/2 hours on the court trying to kill each with their massive serves, the SA player finally took it in the 5th 26-24. It’s exciting for fans and everyone enjoying t...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Wco, getting tickets for Centre Court is probably a tortuous process and I'm sure prices on the black market are extortionate. Very true 10s. I've always enjoyed moping round the outside courts at tournaments and Wimbledon was no exception. Got to see a pretty good five-setter between Kachanov and T...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Visited Wimbledon for the first time last Friday, without tickets :(. With stewards predicting a waiting time of anywhere between 5 and 7 hours and heatwave temperatures in London, we bailed out after half an hour. Even so, I was blown away by the magnitude of the event. Huge queues and a continuous...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Federer did it again, winning his record 20th GS at the Aussie Open. What a fantastic feat, a record that may never be challenged ever. He had to fight hard for this one though dropping two sets as he basically cruised along the tournament. Cilic put on a great fight, he’s won a GS before, when he ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Unfortunate for Chung not to be able to complete the match against Federer. The general view is that he'll probably have to improve his serve a bit but the rest of his game is right up there with the best. Had some great wins in this tournament. Despite his great tournament, it seems that Tennys San...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Another big upset at the AO. Big win for British Kyle Edmund defeating G. Dimitrov. Much like Chung’s game yesterday, Edmund showed poise and a lot of power advancing to the semis. His huge forehand reminds me so much of Jim Courier’s lethal weapon (he even looks like the former American player), j...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
First I saw of Chung was against Rafa in Barcelona on clay last year. He lost 7-6 6-2 but for much of the first set, he gave as good as he got. No mean feat considering how well Rafa played last season on clay. Then he won the next-gen masters in November. Looks awesome off the ground, very fast and...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Aussie Open beginning to heat up in all senses of the word. Djokovic and Del Potro had to overcome temperatures of 39º C and their opponents. Both of them looked very uncomfortable towards the end of their respective matches. Big matches coming up today include Dimitrov V Rublev and bad boy Kygrios ...

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Only bought the original Xbox One in July 2016 (possibly should've waited for the Xbox one S) and given that I don't own a 4k and/or HDR capable screen, I won't be updating anytime soon to the XB1X, especially after reading this: http://www.businessinsider.com/xbox-one-x-pre-order-specs-details-pric...

Re: PES 2018
The author of the Pes Chronicles blog (http://peschronicles.co.uk/), which I have been following for around 8 or 9 years and would consider a very reliable and impartial source, seems to find the final game (plus the day-1 patch, I think) to be considerably superior to the demo. Quoting from the mos...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
It IS a tribute to these players. But it could also be that the development pipeline for the next generation has been empty. Maybe the more talented youngsters are pursuing golf if they're not going team sports. Though there is suppose to be this one 20 year old Russian who's won some big tournamen...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
After watching the first two sets of his match against Dominic Thiem, if anyone had told me that Del Potro was going to win the match and then go on to take out Federer, I'd've thought they were crazy. The Nadal-Federer match-up would've obviously been a hot ticket but Nadal-Delpo could be as good o...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Cripes where do they raise these kids? Roger was asking a similar question himself: https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/roger-federer-wonders-why-young-113506261.html Of his comments, I'd highlight: "I have played almost every player here [and they] wouldn't serve and volley," said Federer. "It's frig...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Amazing year for Roger. The highlight for me was the tiebreak against Raonic, when he went 3-0 and two mini-breaks behind and then won five points in a row, the last of which was this:

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Rafa looks more unplayable on clay now than he ever did. The way he's spinning that forehand and finding those angles off the backhand wing makes it seem that his opponents side of the court is much bigger than his. A lot of the time, his opponents are playing from the tramlines and beyond...a hopel...

Re: Kicking The Tires On A New TV...Advice Needed
Probably a very simplistic question but one that interests me at the moment as I have the original Xbox one (not the "s") and I'm thinking of buying a new TV (on a very limited budget :( ). So my question is whether the games will look better, worse or the same on a 4k UHD TV as opposed to a 1080p H...

AO Films have made a short documentary entitled Federer V Nadal - A Miracle of Modern Sport and posted it on the official AO website. This link should get anyone interested to the video (fingers crossed!):

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Well said 10s. Dynamite performance by both players. Amazing how solid Fed's backhand was. Hardly took a backwards step on it during the entire match. The video of the 26-shot rally you posted exemplifies how, after initially being on the back foot, he camped out on the baseline and took every ball ...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Fed and Rafa continue to march on impressively. Rafa looked great against Raonic, though things could've been different had the Canadian taken advantage of one of the several set points he had in the 2nd. Wawrinka and Dimitrov have looked in great nick as well so the classic final is still quite a b...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Crikey! A few posts ago I was talking about a gut feeling that the only former champion likely to win this was Wawrinka. With Murray out, that feeling should've been reinforced. A few days later,I wouldn't be surprised to see a repeat of the 2009 final (Was that really 8 years ago?). In any case, it...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Agree on all counts 10s. What I saw of the Rafa v Zverev match (from 4-2 in the 4th set) was outstanding. Rafa played out of his skin, using everything he's learnt in more than a decade at the top to somehow subdue the young German, who was unlucky in that he appeared to be cramping up towards the e...

Re: OT: Pro Tennis Thread
Federer was absolutely brilliant against Berdych. I didn't expect him to play that well. If he can repeat it against Nishikori, the QF with (probably) Murray would be a must-watch match.
