Re: CPU help

I know that Micro Center well (bit of a pain getting there compared to the old Post Oak and 610 location). The last 2 builds have had many parts purchased from there. I am always amazed many parts there are less expensive, even with sales tax, than online. And even my wife doesn't mind going there ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Wow Terry, thanks so much for pointing this out. And today, they included the MX-5 in the AI lineup. A car almost everybody can drive, so I'm greatly looking forward to giving that one a spin later! Encouraging that they've already added a new car. I was worried it wouldn't be expanded until Week 1...

Re: CPU help

I will say that when I got my keyboard, PC RGB, mouse, Orbweaver keypad, and everything using the exact same RGB combination, it WAS pretty sweet :) He's got reason to be excited. Funny, though...after this conversation my own PC started to sh*t the bed. I've narrowed it down to a Motherboard proble...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Yes, but ACC has given me fits the last 2 times I raced it. I go through a full 40 minute race, and I come to the last 1/3 of a lap...and the car dies? Apparently they don't fill it up with fuel enough? I've got to micromanage that? Plus getting into the pit box (into JUST the right spot) is maddeni...

Re: CPU help

Well, I'm pretty sure he's talking about building the power of the rig to match the pixels you're going to try to be pushing...not the specific monitor. But everybody's opinion is going to differ, for sure. I'll probably defer to Scott's advice to you on this one, as honestly I wasn't reading it ver...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

For those who had their eye on it, iRacing's "soft launch" of AI cars was yesterday. It's only the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car and 7 tracks, but after toying with it for a couple of hours last night, I'm seriously impressed. You can set up an entire season, customize the AI strength, determine time of d...

Re: CPU help

Yeah, that would make sense. Must have missed that, sorry. I gotta say I used my 3440x1440, while my wife had a 2560x1080, and hers looks beautiful, too (might actually be that LG). The question is whether you'd want a wider screen, or pure pixel count, though. For games that support it, the 21:9 as...

Re: CPU help

Not sure why you'd go to a 2560x1440 instead of a 3440x1440 for a 50 dollar difference, unless it's the size of the screen. But 34" isn't really that wide unless you put it 8 inches from your face, rather that at the rear of the desk. To each his own, though. If you're running a single monitor, that...

Re: CPU help

Only thing I'd add is that there are a bunch of Freesync monitors that support G-Sync without an issue now. I've run a few for a while and haven't had a problem...as far as my RTX 2080 Ti is concerned, the monitors are G-Sync, and I enable it the same way in the Nvidia control panel.

Re: Jedi Fallen Order

Doesn't unlock to the 14th so not much advanced time on this one like other premier titles. Not sure if that means anything or not. They posted on twitter there wouldn't be an early release for spoiler reasons. I haven't bought it yet, probably play through my ea access trial when it is released an...

Re: Next Gen XBOX (Project Scarlett) and PlayStation 5

You get Xbox Accessories on the XBox.

You launch it.

It basically gives you a big tutorial.

You are just editing a problem, selecting a paddle or button and assigning whatever you want to them, then saving it.

Re: Next Gen XBOX (Project Scarlett) and PlayStation 5

That's the only way, and I've used it for my other Elites without an issue (and did with this one, as well).

However, the profile stores on the controller itself, so even if you just go over to your XBox and set the profiles up, they'll be saved when you go over to PC.

Re: Next Gen XBOX (Project Scarlett) and PlayStation 5

Yep, I'm a believer. It's a bit weird to have the paddles smaller and more recessed than the Elite 1, but the stick tension is a huge bonus. An extra profile on the controller (3 instead of 2) is nice, as well. Overall construction feels like it's made much more "solidly", if that makes sense. A bit...

False! Never!

Re: Codemasters F1 2019

PCars didn't work very well with a wheel, either, FWIW. They did seem to patch it up after a few times, but I never had the crazy issues with it.

I guess most of my stuff lately has been with Nascar Heat, which has been trash with wheels but fine with Gamepads, and other games ported the other way.

Re: Next Gen XBOX (Project Scarlett) and PlayStation 5

Wow, the Elite 2 is fantastic. Build quality is light years ahead of the original, and I loved the original. The USB C connection, the dock, the adjustable sticks. I'm a fan. Damn it....I passed on it because I love my Elite Controllers, and wasn't sure the upgrade was worth it. Thanks a lot.

Re: Codemasters F1 2019

With a wheel, it's definitely not too easy to drive with the assists off, IMO. It's a great deal of fun, but I wouldn't chalk it up as the most realistic example. The cars still take way too long to stop and they're not "jittery" enough, if that makes sense, but I have a hell of a time every time I ...

Re: XBOX Game Pass (Ultimate)

Exactly! I really enjoy third person games, and not so much first person. Don't know if it's the decreased FOV or what, but I like seeing my character and the animations help "sell" the fantasy to me. I really do dig The Outer Worlds, and find myself having genuine laughs at so many conversations. D...

Re: MLB Season 2019. Playball!

It's absolutely crazy how nuts this place is for the Texans and Astros (and Rockets, really). During every playoff game, I can just open my back door and listen for the shouts and hoots from any random house party on my block. I have a green belt behind me, so you hear that "distant partying" going ...

Re: Dirt Rally 2.0 coming 26 February 2019

I made the mistake of firing this up last night fairly late, as one of those "I want to turn some laps, but don't know in what...oh, DR 2.0 had an update, let me check that out...." scenarios. I never played DR 2.0 much (only a couple of stages or early career rallies), as it didn't have VR support ...

Re: Ghost Recon Break Point

Yeah, the all-same-mission thing is absurd. I've resorted to just zooming out to the entire island view, ask them which zone the mission is in, and then going there and pressing Y to see missions. It'll have every mission for that zone, and then just pin it. The UI is easily the worst part of the ga...

Re: Ghost Recon Break Point

Yeah, I've never felt more out of touch with reviews on this one. It has some genuinely baffling decisions...like repeated generic "where can you find this person?" when talking about a major story character, and generic "I've told you everything I know!" as a direct response. Even though they've li...
