Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Close, but now the race is complete and the 2005 USGP is off the hook for biggest farce.

I’m not sure why they’d write a rule that says 2 laps completes a race and offers half points.

Congrats to Williams on the podium!

Urban Meyer's offense also doesn't seem to be doing him any favors. Reminds me of the neanderthal offense Chuck Pagano put in place for Andrew Luck that got him killed behind a bad offensive line.

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Well, you see...Alex Albon, in a two-year old car had to brake 29 meters sooner in order to make the corner.

It's been hard not to just yell out "WILL YOU JUST SHUT UP" any time Horner's opened his mouth over the last week.

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

A calculation based on the safe and certain knowledge that in battle, Lewis would concede the place, just as he did in Barcelona, just as he perhaps should have at Imola, just as he did at Paul Ricard. 30-odd points off the championship lead, in a car that's just a hair slower than the one he's rac...

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

If you line up the fastest cars front to back on a track that's hard to pass, you're going to end up with more or less the same result. Cool event to draw more people to the track, maybe? I didn't see it adding much at all and, like NASCAR, the harder the series tries to tell me what I watched is am...

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Mazepin is driving like his dad is going to own the team soon... Road America is always one I look forward to, but this year was on a whole 'nother level. They might need to name the little run-off at turn 5 after Grosjean for the number of times he ended up out there, I was really impressed with hi...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I haven’t, and that’s part of the reason I was ok dropping 40 bones on this game. Seems like a greatest hits, plus SRX package of everything up to this point.

And this afternoon my youngest son had a great time playing as “Elliot” Castroneves and winning on the easier modes.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

It's me, the guy who decided what the hell, why not put this GameStop credit towards the SRX game. This is the first game of the Monster/Tony Stewart collaboration that I've tried. Played it for about an hour or so last night and it seems like a fun and basic game with a lot of different cars and tr...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

After getting a DOA Thrustmaster TX set last year (and awful customer service) I took the Fanatec plunge and am happy with how much of an upgrade it feels like over my old Logitech. The CSL DD seems like an awfully good route if you don't want to go Terry's higher-end route, but as you're seeing eve...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Thinking, thinking, thinking...the two Codemasters IndyCar Series come to mind, goodness the online racing of the second one was brilliant the two or three times it actually worked. There were a couple IndyCar dogs released that maybe would be fun in a bad way, one for N64 and another for PC (ABC Sp...

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Graham was a lucky boy. Had his stop lasted a couple of seconds longer, that spin would have had him coming up the track right in the firing line, instead of clearing up the racetrack before the leaders got there I'm not the only one that got Zanardi vibes from that crash, right? A damaged nose con...

'control-f' "castroneves" Hmm, I seemed to have overlooked an old guy that made the fast 9...at least I mentioned a fast pink car a few posts ago. Before I get to him though, a few thoughts/questions: What the hell happened to Herta? From my perspective the team got high on its own supply, was conte...

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

You know, I started answering your question and started wondering if it would be better to put who I won't be putting money on for the 500. What a deep field. Dixon has unfinished business after last year's disappointment and there isn't much evidence that he'll be any weaker this year. Kind of has ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

It kinda looks like a Monster Games greatest hits with SRX added—probably not going to bite at $40 but there are some cool and interesting tracks that could be fun to race with the variety of vehicles. And we finally get Willy T Ribbs, Michael Waltrip, and Helio Castroneves on the same track.

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

I wonder if years of average drivers (relative to an org like Penske) is catching up to Andretti. No offense to Marco or Zach Veach (nice drive for him at Mid-Ohio yesterday), but on a week-in-week-out basis neither of them were going to be much of a threat to break through for a win and often times...

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Weekend impressions: O'Ward's on a rocket to stardom (relatively speaking, of course). He reminds me so much of a young Montoya; supernatural speed, reflexes, and gives absolutely zero f*cks. Young JPM was on another planet, but Pato's one of the few to enter that planet's orbit. Can you believe we'...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

An 8020 rig is definitely the buy once, cry once option. Something to consider, the Playseat is fine for now and it isn't like that's what is keeping me from the top of the charts! Unrelated to rigs, iRacing, and the like... I picked up Monster Energy Supercross 4 after accidentally leaving the seco...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Fortunately I don't need to put mine away/break it down, just have a smaller area available if I want to keep it permanently set up and a lot are just a few inches too long. The GT Omega Titan is one that could be worth saving up for, it's relatively short.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

That Sim Lab stand looks interesting, need to figure out the total length with the optional add-on for a seat.

Might just make sense to wait a while and save up to get into the $600 range, too.

I'm only 165 pounds (increasing weekly!) of American, so can't say for the fit but I don't feel particularly tight in the cockpit. Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

A bombshell product announcement, for sure. I got a CSL Elite last year and it has been such a big upgrade over my old Logitech set-up, would have been amazing to go straight to a direct drive at that price point instead. I'm assuming we'll see a mid-range released next to replace the high-end belt ...

Man City and Chelsea are already out, hard to see the Super League moving forward. The fall-out could be interesting.

Edit to add that Atletico Madrid is also bailing.

Re: Racing Season 2021 (Spoiler Alert)

Really happy for Alex Palou, feeling really good about my reply pointing out that he'd be a good play at +5000 after they posted odds on Twitter. If only I'd made a play...or not sold DOGECOIN at $0.06 a while back, too. And man, Jimmie Johnson is all of us. We'd all be thrilled as all get out to dr...
