Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Project Cars 3's career feels like it's been lifted from Microsoft's series back in its pomp, as you start in a humble roadcar before splashing the cash you earn in short class-based races on upgrades to turn that same car into a tarmac-devouring, race ready beast. Except it feels like it might hav...

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)

Seeing a lot of complaints about ending under yellow and yeah, it stinks, but that attenuator was absolutely destroyed--how long would it take to get it repaired/replaced? Guessing NBC wouldn't have stuck around for that long and it was already pushing 6p Eastern. After the first one, the yellows ke...

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)

Alright fellas, who's your pick for the 500 this weekend? I'm having a hard time making any further than Hunter Reay or Rossi, but based on the last couple practices at the race boost it sure looks like Honda's big advantage is limited to the qualifying boost so it is a pretty wide-open race. Should...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Oops, got too excited to post about the Indy 500 that I put it in the wrong thread. I am looking forward to running an iRacing C-level IndyCar race at Indy this weekend, it's been a lot of fun figuring out how to navigate traffic to give yourself a shot at a pass. I have a feeling a full field could...

Re: MS Flight Simulator

I'm definitely on the look-out for some one-page cheat sheets or something like that. There's a reason games like this used to come with massive manuals.

What a beautiful game, I had fun just flying around yesterday after doing some of the tutorials.

Not a big surprise to hear the Indy 500 will be held without fans this year, going to be a weird experience for sure.

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Man, I'm having more fun with iRacing than any videogame I can remember and today might have been the most enjoyable experience yet. I'm on pace in the USF2000 at Watkins Glen better and my iRating is bad enough that I'm *really* fast for some lower splits. First race, put it on pole and lead for 5 ...

Re: FOR SALE

I'll be watching from home...really bummed we can't make it work, I haven't been to Road America since 2001 (watching those CART cars rocket into the braking zone for turn 5 was breathtaking) and my youngest son was so excited. Oh well, we'll renew and try again next year.

Re: FOR SALE

Here's a random one - anyone know anyone who might be interested in a trackside powered RV spot for this weekend's IndyCar race at Road America? My family isn't able to go and I haven't found anyone locally interested in the pass.

Re: Codemaster's F1 2020

A bit of good luck today, came across someone who accidentally got the Xbox version when he bought a new Fanatec wheel and posted it on craigslist for $20. I planned to buy the PC version on sale at some point but couldn't pass it up at that price.

Re: Racing Season 2020 (Spoiler Alert)

It was also a fun weekend at the Brickyard. Is Scott Dixon ever going to slow down? Did Sunday's surprisingly decent NASCAR race keep the big series on the oval for at least one more year? The Xfinity finish was a barn-burner, so my preference would be to see everyone use the road course on the same...

I started watching the Netflix documentary on F1 so I watched the race on Sunday...so much more entertaining when you know the background of the guys. Even though it wasn’t a great race for the win, it was a great two hour watch now for me!thry got a fan in me now I heard the same thing from my sis...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I am so deeply engrossed in iRacing now, that it seems like nothing else matters. The Discord community I help manage is up over 1,000 members, with multiple community races every week. It's about all I have time for. ... One thing this pandemic has done is brought real world guys and sim racers to...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Anyone else jump into the 1987 NASCAR Cup car in iRacing? I'll be promoted to a C license with the new season and after trying to drive the car, I might try something else first to get a little buffer for my Safety Rating before jumping in to the NASCAR Legends series. Then again, trying it (very un...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I have a Lenovo Legion Y545 that runs iRacing swimmingly but I haven't tried any other sims on it. Recently purchased Assetto Corsa and assume it will run well, the computer's specs seemed to be solid for the budget.

The final Indycar iRacing event sure seemed like it devolved into a sh*t show.

That's an amazing set-up, holy sh*t. I want to upgrade from my G920 but got a DOA Thrustmaster TX that ended up in warranty hell (no one wanted to fix it) and had to be returned, guess that's a sign to keep saving up for a Fanatec instead!

After seeing Timmy Hill and Garrett Smithley's racing rigs, I couldn't believe that I have something considerably nicer than what they were using, but their skills at iracing were on display today! I'm so impressed with the way FOX Sports covers this with the respect they would give to a real race!...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I was watching a replay of the iRacing Homestead Nascar race and wow, impressive. It looks like a real Nascar race with commentating, and the drivers race like the Pros in the real series, i.e. avoiding and not causing wrecks. I can only imagine some of those teams must have their own race engineer...
