it's weird. I score more on 10 than 09 when I play against the cpu by myself, yet they still seem more satisfying. in 09, I often felt I got lucky. after only a few days, I can say I definitely like the gameplay better on this version of PES (on ps3). also, 10 games into my ML, I've already scored o...

I got this for christmas from my parents, you know, because I'm still 12. The master league is so much improved I can't believe it. they're doing things they should have done years ago (start in 1st div, include div 2 in cup, allow for customizing league in ML, simulation). I don't have as much time...

Donovan's penalty miss last night was Baggio-esque. he had been so money for team usa, especially during qualifiers, so that was shocking. which was more pressure: one of what ended up being 7 in a MLS final shootout, or all the ones he hits during open play in world cup qualifiers? I'd vote the qu...

I was hoping arsenal being out of forwards could be remedied by solid attack from midfield, but it didn't look that way saturday. sunderland was lucky to score, but still, this had a scoreless draw feel to it.

a big missed opportunity.

I was really excited to play it on wii after about 10 years on ps and ps2, but I think I underestimated the learning curve. it seems like a well-done game with many options. but I feel like a kid before I knew how to type, unable to translate my thoughts to my fingers. I find myself looking at the c...

shooting seems tougher. I've missed lots of sitters, but maybe I need to use R2 when shooting more than on WE9. I usually hit the sprint button (R1) right before I shoot, and I can get some powerful shots on goal. However, you also need to be controlling someone with the appropriate skill level. fo...

after a week or so with the ps2 version, I like this game quite a bit, more than I expected. it's more fun to play against the cpu b/c my teammates actually make runs and move around, unlike WE9, which tended to get tedious at tougher levels. it appears there's more emphasis on player skills, and th...

very rarely have I run across fake tickets. most of the time when I go to any college or pro sporting event, I buy scalped tickets. and honesty, I almost always pay less than face, even to sold out events. this is partly b/c in the midwest, for instance, it's a pretty naive black market. there's ver...

back to espn and its intolerance of criticism, recall the Gregg Easterbrook affair a few years back. Easterbrook is a talented author and thinker who happens to write the excellent Tuesday Morning Quarterback column each week during the NFL season. A couple years ago on one of his rants in his 5,000...

one of my biggest sports pet peeves is when a goalkeeper has the captain's armband.

if the purpose is to have an onfield leader wear it, how can the keeper do that when he is so often so far from the action? any decent keeper is a defensive leader anyway.

Is merely cutting across and elbowing the chest a foul? Technically yes, but much less likely to draw attention and a whistle than an elbow to the chops. It did still look like a foul to me, which is why Henry's embellishment didn't rile me up too much. OR...you were rooting for France?...was just ...

the fact that I can now watch serie a means I ought to pay attention a little more to what the scandal will do to the league.

wouldn't it be a pisser to be able to watch multiple games a week the same year juve, fiorentina, etc. get relegated as punishment?

Worst game of the tournament. That was just aweful. Neither team deserves to go to the next round. no way. holland/argentina was worse. I thought ukraine/swiss first 60 minutes were pretty good. decent chances on goal, a couple posts hit, nice intensity, a lot of running, good hard fairly clean pla...

You know the apocolypse is upon us when I went to an MLS game this weekend, and said to myself "god, the officiating here is actually competent." Was also nice to see an entire game go by without a single player go down and stop play. At least the USA team refrained from diving in their brief appea...

Does anyone have an updated version of this file with the attributes tweaked and maybe the duplicate players deleted? as I wrote a month ago, I did it myself in about an hour or so, and I've enjoyed relatively realistic MLS master league since. I don't have the technology or tech savvy to be able t...

I love mls. I'm glad it's here. I go to probably 10-15 games a year. that said, I agree with what bruce arena said after the cup that for usa to succeed, our players have to succeed in europe. they just can't get to a world cup level playing in mls. it's not that different than players in every coun...

Hmm...Schweinsteiger, Borowski, Klose, Hitzelsperger....or a load of scrubs who no one has ever heard of (ie the entire squads of the other 3) Tough choice, particularly given that the best 3 goalies in the group are all in Germany's squad. I take it you missed the comedy performances by Poland's k...

Big set back fro the Germans. Looks like captain M. Ballack won't play on the opening match. pffffft, it is only Costa Rica. I think this is a big deal. w/o ballack, germany has as many world class players as everyone else in its group (poland, costa rica, ecuador). Imagine of Germany lets in an ea...

I'm most pissed about their decision to show college baseball super regional on espn June 12 at 11 am instead of the USA/Czech World Cup match (on espn2).

world cup happens every 4 years, and usa may have only 3 matches. It's not even the college world series yet!

with 4 team groups, 4 points makes it through about 1/2 the time, I've found anecdotally. so if USA does like last WC (1-1-1), they'll be out this time, the odds say. With that in mind, I think USA needs at least 2 points from Italy and Czech. A loss and a draw probably means the ghana game is meani...
