Re: iRacing DSP Poker Night League - FREE!

That was awesome. I must say, I do like the trucks quite a bit, even after my initial reservations. I may jump in with you guys at some point.

Re: Hurricane Sandy/Frankenstorm

It's been a strange one for sure. Here in York, we got some water in the basement (about 6 inches or so of rain). We have friends who live in Ocean City, NJ; they were finally allowed to go back to their house to find the heat on and electricity still fine (their garage was trashed though). The husb...

Re: OT: Racing 2012 (Spoiler Alert)

A very good article. I for the most part thought RB did a pretty good job. Certainly there were flubs (like the race at Milwaukee), but in general I always got the feeling that he had the interests of the series at heart and did a pretty decent job. What worries me is the feeling that the inmates ar...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

These new additions are awesome. The endurance racing with driver swaps could be cool. I've had a sort of spotter at times (using Teamspeak) when running with the Apex Racing guys, so having an official iRacing version will be neat. (I don't run a lot with them anymore unfortunately; the core group ...

For any of you guys who use Steam, Indianapolis 500: Evolution is in the Greenlight section.

Re: X-COM: Enemy Unknown

After reading the posts here, I downloaded the demo on Steam. After I finished it I purchased it immediately. It's a great example of many parts coming together to create a cohesive whole. No one section really seems to overshadow another, and everything you do in one area will affect all the others...

Holy cow, what an incredible speech, and an incredible kid. You guys must be the proudest parents on Earth. OK, except that he went Air Force instead of Navy, but hey, nobody's perfect! It's kids like this who come to my mind first as soon as someone starts complaining about the next generation.

Have any of you guys watched the internet show called TableTop? Is was designed and is hosted by William Wheaton (who played Wesley Crusher in Star Trek The Next Generation... yeah I know, but I prefer to remember him from Stand By Me! ) Basically, Will has some celebrities come to play boardg...

It really is a fun game. I've never made it to the end, and once got wiped out on my first jump. But it's so quick to jump into you just load up and go again.

Re: OT: Get back to work!

Today we had an in-service, and during it we watched a documentary called "Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go" about a school in England that has kids with similar problems as ours. It was interesting to see how they handled things as compared to the way we do; we had a really good discussion afterwards and w...

She's an executive for Macy's, which is less than a block from Penn Station so it works well for her. It's a much shorter commute for her than the 3 hour one she was doing!

Re: New Job!?!$%

If you aren't tied in to living in the city, my mother in law has worked in Manhattan for years, and finally decided to move to Pennsylvania, just north of Philly in Bucks County. So her commute isn't too bad now, just a ten minute drive across the river to the Trenton train station, then about an h...

Re: OT: Get back to work!

I just wanted to follow up this thread now that it's been about a month since I've started my new job. I think that if you described it in detail to me before I went there I would have turned it down. And thank goodness no one did! Even though I do miss working in IT (my last employer has even expre...

They must have rented it from the 2011 Nurburgring!

Re: F1 2012 demo coming

I'm passing on it, although being a track whore I may get it later at a discount to try Austin. But since I still have 2011 on PC, I really have no incentive to get 2012 based on what I've read. It's a shame, but it doesn't seem to be a step forward at all. Maybe a lateral step, but no sense droppin...

Sam Cooke: Live at the Harlem Square Club (maybe the most underrated live album in R&B) I do love that album. Within seconds Sam has the audience in the palm of his hand. The Johnny Cash you mentioned reminded me of another great album recorded at a prison: B.B. King Live from Cook County Jail.

Re: OT: Springsteen at Wrigley

Exactly our band's philosophy. We play a lot of covers, but we stretch, fold, spin, solo, mutilate and mash them into something different than the album original. I saw a cover band at a party last Saturday night that was technically more proficient than us. But they played the covers almost note f...

Re: OT: Springsteen at Wrigley

I guess I'm a bit old school, but I like concerts like that, where the songs feel live and spur of the moment, not like I could have just stayed home and listened to the CD and gotten the same thing...... Spot-on, man. That's not old school. That's performers giving value and magic for fans' money....

Yeah, I think rock is alive and well, but took a break from the mainstream. Of course I tend to favor the lesser known guys. For my money you will rarely find better shows than Southside Johnny or John Eddie (yes both Jersey guys, Southside is a great friend of Springsteens); these are guys who pour...

Re: OT: Racing 2012 (Spoiler Alert)

So whats the consensus on the combining of the ALMS and Grand Am series? I think it will make for a heck of a neat series, and it's very cool that the LeMans series in Europe is going to work with them to make sure that some teams can still qualify for the 24 Hours.
