Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Lads, I have no real idea where to post this, but this seems like the most appropriate thread. As some of you are already aware, I've been managing mental health issues for my entire adult life. I won't bog you down too much in the specifics, other than to tell you that towards the end of last year,...

Re: EA WRC DSP Rally Championship
Incredibly poor form from me this week. I always pick the Sierra Cosworth where the option exists in a game, solely because my Granda had a Sierra when I was little (it was a 1.6 litre base model, but still...) and I like the little nostalgia hit I get. I've always wanted to own a Sierra Cossie too ...

Re: EA WRC DSP Rally Championship
Rolled it 5 times in Sweden, 3 of those in the first half of stage 1. That deep snow is a swine once you drop a wheel in it. Also received a corner cut penalty while upside down in mid-air, which I thought was a tiny bit harsh, but whatever.

Re: EA WRC DSP Rally Championship
Enjoyed that. Nearly drove off a cliff on stage 5 and lost 90 seconds fitting a new tyre on stage 6 because I occasionally crash into big, solid things, but the goal for these stages is to face the right way for as long as possible rather than being a hero and I did that, as long as you ignore the b...

Re: EA WRC DSP Rally Championship
I didn't get to try much of the trial event - I ran one rally, in which I launched a Group B car off a cliff on my shakedown, couldn't fix it properly before the rally proper and consequently launched it off another cliff - so am limited in the feedback I can offer, but what you're proposing sounds ...

Re: Best XBOX 360 (or PS3) era games
Racing wise there are too many. I wanted to buy Blur but it's going for around $75-100 on ebay. I don't want to spend that much. Keeping the budget around $1-$5 per game. I'm several thousand miles away so not the oracle on prices, but if you were in the UK, that budget would get you Project Gotham...

Godspeed, Gil de Ferran. A savvy, intelligent racing driver, blessed with an on-track consistency that allowed him to take advantage of a technical, analytical mind. Smoother than steamed silk when everything was working as it should, often searingly fast whether in single seaters or ALMS and, by ev...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Wilk, I went ahead with a purchase on Series X after PK's recommendation and it's running absolutely fine for me in gameplay. I've seen one stutter in the little cut scene immediately before the stage starts, but nothing while driving. Still a few bits of screen tear but I suspect that's baked in at...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Have we settled on a verdict re: EA WRC 1.4, chaps? I got a £50 gift card for Christmas which was meant as a means of buying F1 23 and WRC, but some of the initial feedback on the latest WRC patch has me wondering whether to hold off. I'm all out of free trial so can't check it out for myself.

Re: Is it Redundant to own both XBX ans PS5?
That said, I'm still feisty enough at 58 to engage and push back in here when I see fit. That happens a LOT less often than 15 or 20 years ago, but some sh*t still raises my hackles. :) Reading this, it dawned on me that I'm now the same age you were when I first registered to post here in early 20...

Re: GT7 PS5 - A masterpiece
damn. Going to get this based on your post. My car is in the game for 1,000,000 how long will it take me to earn that? Not long if you go about it smartly. The early races don't give out a ton of credits, but every track has a "circuit experience" (basically a series of time trials designed for you...

Re: GT7 PS5 - A masterpiece
Enjoy. No way I'm buying a system for one game, and I've had no interest in the Gran Turismo series since GT3. The first three editions were all about eye candy over gameplay and AI, so that was enough to steer me away. Glad you're digging it. I was the same way as you. Last GT I liked was on PS2 I...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
As usual, Adam is stupid fast. I'll never catch him in this or any life. I promise you, I hit something on every stage. A couple of times, I had a spin on the long stages 1 and 4 and then, trying to avoid that mistake on the shorter second run, had a totally different spin at the same corner instea...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Completed the rally in various stages of disrepair. Finland is a difficult country to navigate your way around when the bonnet of your Impreza obscures your view of every crest. Still more difficult when you cock up the repairs in the final service and accidentally leave 7 components broken. Still, ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
I've just spent half an hour or so in the Moments mode pretending to be Colin, or "this Scottish driver" as the in-game blurb dubs him, during that famous Rally Finland where he felled more trees than a juiced-up lumberjack. This handling model, familiar from but more compliant than DR2.0, gave me c...

Re: OT: Racing 2023 (Spoiler Alert)
Vips already is quicker than Daly despite the latter having been in the series for 10 years. Oh, absolutely. I suspect, though, that a great many potential sponsors would take Conor's podcast, established follower base and occasional SRX commentary gig over Juri's offering, whatever that might be. ...

Re: OT: Racing 2023 (Spoiler Alert)
Fittipaldi's check cleared. Period. But to be fair, Pietro is better than many pay drivers. He won't threaten Lundgaard in that team but could challenge Graham on Rahal's off weekends. Bobby Rahal said Vips is under contract, and the team may field a fourth car in 2024 if sponsorship can be found. ...

Re: OT: Racing 2023 (Spoiler Alert)
Only a guess - but the Foyt cars kicked Penske’s asses in qualifying at the 500. Roger sure would like to know how… That would make quite a lot of sense... I did think, after the last few races of the season, that RLL signing Juri Vips would make a lot of sense. Today's announcement that Pietro Fit...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
Man. I like the handling. There's impressive weight and heft to the cars. The tyre modelling, with its extra 67000 layers of fidelity or whatever it was, allows for gradual loss of grip so slides are more progressive than in older entries, where the transition from having grip to losing it was rapid...

Chaps, I can normally do a decent job of reading between the lines on things like this, but I haven't got a clue what Marshall is on about re: one other thing. I assume I should be able to figure it out, otherwise why bother mentioning it? And yet... Having the Foyts ready to run an extra car, on Pe...

Newcastle 4, PSG 1. HOWAY THE LADS! The difference between a club which, despite the injection of Megabucks, retains a unity and pride within its squad and one which, as a consequence of the injection of Megabucks, does not. Is this better than Tino Asprilla's night of nights against Barcelona? It ...

Anyone else going to be on Forza Motorsport (8) tonight on early release? Nope. I'm not paying for four or five days' early play time for a game that will be released free next Tuesday on GamePass, if I understand that "perk" of buying the game correctly. Ditto. I'm a single-player gamer who likes ...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II
As per Forza, the game has my favorite track (Road America) and my favorite race car of all time (Audi Quattro ISMA). So I am pretty excited! Hopefully the car/track are not hidden behind a paywall or a massive grind. I haven't played Forza since the 360. Do they give you all the cars like Project ...

The menus definitely feel clunky and crowded to say the least. I am an UT player only. Haven’t even tried the rest of the modes but if you liked efootball 24 and hate this rendition of EA’s latest footie game then this sport is not your cup of tea. Konami’s product is embarrassing even people don’t...
