Re: Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

Thanks for the laugh, Paul. I needed that as I watch the Pickford hit job on VVD for the 45th time today.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21

Playing on Pro-Am. I started on Pro bc I've played plenty of TGC over the last few years, and it was a bloodbath. But even on Pro-Am I've got crazy swing tempo issues and wild, and honestly seemingly random, putting inconsistency.

Re: PGA TOUR 2K21

I have given this game plenty of run, and I'm just going to put it away for a little.

Either the game is broken or I am, and it's not worth my banging my head against the wall to figure out which is which.

Re: Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

Bill Harris pretty much sums up my attitude toward this whole upcoming generation of consoles. Is it a crotchety old man position? It is. Is it demonstrably fair given the evidence from both companies? Yes. Anyway, Bill's list of accurate launch day titles: Square Enix Presents Crystals Fighting Cry...

Wow that is quite the relic! Any chance that a mid-sized city's daily paper wrote an expose about the SR diaspora?

Re: Coronavirus Suggestions

Some total genius is doing live YouTube streams of random NFL weeks from the '80's as if they are airing on Red Zone. This is a staggering amount of work for a totally ridiculous and delightful purpose. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns0uGxv36Yc&feature=youtu.be This is a must-watch if you get a sm...

Zeppo,

I have nothing useful to add to your networking dilemma, but I figured I would pop in and say hi since we don't cross paths on XBL much anymore.

Head to Spotify or the streaming service of your choice. Hoist your favorite beverage and throw on some Fountains of Wayne. So gutted to hear that co-founder Adam Schlesinger has succumbed to the virus. He and Chris Collingwood were the first band since (and maybe the best band with the exception of...

Re: Coronavirus Suggestions

What was different in 1968 vs today, is that schools were still open, Sports leagues were still operating, restaurants were open for business and people were civil even in NYC. There wasn't any panic buying and stockpiling like it was the end of the world. What we have is the potential of completel...

Re: Coronavirus Suggestions

The thing about COVID-19 is the unknown unknowns. The flu comparisons are facile because, as bad as the flu is, we have immunizations that can both limit its spread and minimize its intensity in those who get immunized. The idea that it only kills old or sick people is generally true...except when i...

Some off-the-beaten-path streaming suggestions. Babylon Berlin. This will NOT be for everybody, but it's a German (subtitled) drama set in the late Weimar Republic. It's riveting, creepy, sexy, odd...just a hell of a lot of fun. Halt and Catch Fire. A grossly overlooked casualty of the torrent of gr...

Re: Jedi Fallen Order

I'm not feeling this game at all. I'm going to finish, because the story and presentation are top-notch, but I despise the platform-y stuff and I don't think it works at all with the idea of the story. Going from being a jedi bad ass one minute, deflecting blaster shots from a half-dozen stormtroope...

Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare

I just had one of those mind-melting glitches in the campaign that just drives you crazy. Near the end of a long, slow, stealth-based mission, I crouched in a corner. Some bad guys exited the building, opening the door and trapping me behind it. This door became totally immovable...and of course the...

Re: MLB Season 2019. Playball!

I enjoyed the series, even if it wasn't the most dramatic, largely because I like both of the teams involved. So happy for those old, hardcore DC baseball fans who weathered years without a team. Tom Boswell has one of the game's great writers (and boosters) for decades, and guys like him who champi...

To some extent he was supposed to change the way US Soccer itself worked, but the problem is bigger than that. Really, it's a job that involves more than just the USSF and you are correct that five years isn't enough time. Problem No. 1 remains: We're still depending on players to fund their own de...

Listening to a podcast. They're going to talk to someone about a theory that they're not using the same juiced balls in the postseason that they were using during the regular season. The balls are different. The data on that is clear. The theories are regarding whether it's intentional or simply a ...
