Re: Codemaster's F1 2020

The IGN reviewer said the rear of the car is more planted in F1 2020 than in F1 2019. That's good. Hopefully the driving model will be more similar to F1 2018, a game in which I thought you could really stand on the wheel and wring more out of the car than last year's game. No question I'll buy this...

Re: FOR SALE

Here's a random one - anyone know anyone who might be interested in a trackside powered RV spot for this weekend's IndyCar race at Road America? My family isn't able to go and I haven't found anyone locally interested in the pass. Sorry, Dave: I'm working the races this weekend, not camping. Workin...

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion

Depends on the game for me. For example, I would easily pay $70 for a sequel to The Hunter: Call of the Wild since I have put literally hundreds of hours into that game. Same with a third Isle of Man TT game and The Division 3. But a $70 sticker price would steer me even further away from impulse pu...

Re: The Beautiful Game thread, season 2018/19

It's no different in basketball. How often do you hear commentators say Black players are "scrappy," "gym rats" or "heady players?" Maybe never? Conversely, how often are white players called "incredible athletes," "guys who can jump out of the gym," etc.? Perhaps never? Or just in general. Randy Mo...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I actually don't mind seeing Codemasters turn its sights at Forza with Project Cars 3. Forza has been the most consistently excellent and fun racing series on any console for the last 10 years, wiping out nearly all of its competition. Full credit to Turn 10: It hasn't rested on its laurels. It's a ...

Re: Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

https://www.tomsguide.com/opinion/3-big-ways-the-xbox-series-x-can-beat-ps5 -MERACE Interesting read, and I know this is a fight to the death between Sony and Microsoft. But stories like this -- with "one console beating the other" in the headline -- lead to useless tribalism among gamers. "PS5 suc...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Confirmation of no tire wear, fuel load dropoff or pit stops in Project Cars 3. They're clearly aiming at Forza, which is fine. Just don't call it a sim, Codemasters!

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Found some controller settings tweaks at the Codemasters forum that really helped improve the handling of GRID for me. I'm getting more of the controlled, arcadish slides that I'm supposed to, and it's fun. There's no way in hell this game is worth $60, but I'm having fun with it for $10 after these...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I doubt it will backfire, Rod. They'll sell more copies because it's more accessible. The sim world raves about games like AC and AC:C, but I bet they don't sell that many copies because the audience is niche. Codemasters and SMS are clearly shifting the focus of the Project Cars franchise to take d...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

No tire wear or fuel load depletion in Project Cars 3, eliminating need for pit stops:

WTF? And Codemasters and SMS still have the stones to call this a sim?

WRC 8 is coming to the XONE this July for free as part of XBL Gold membership. A couple of other games look decent as well in that group but most notable is WRC 8.
Oooh, that's a nice add. Thanks for the tip, Rod!

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I haven't made any settings change. I knew I was playing GRID and approached it that way. The driving to me seems a wee bit tighter than GRID Autosport. In GRID 2 it was powersliding mania. I felt Codies tried to correct that with Autosport and the latest GRID "at least to me" feels pretty similar....

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

I blindly hit the Buy button for GRID for the price. I haven't played a GRID game since GRID 2, figured for a few bucks, it would be good for a few hours of fun. I don't have any experience with it yet, so no impressions and setting suggestions for a couple more days. Let me know if you discover se...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Well, I took the plunge and bought GRID for $10 and still feel filthy about it. What a complete pile of dogsh*t. I've tweaked gameplay settings. Adjusted difficulty and assists. And this game still sucks harder than a brand-new Hoover vacuum. Spiked center axis handling. Ridiculously dumb AI. Unpred...

Microsoft shutting down Mixer. Not a huge deal but a bit of a surprise. I thought it was doing ok. Evidently they are transitioning to Facebook Gaming. I’m not a Facebook fan. I don’t stream much but when I do it is on YouTube with my PS4 and PC (for my golf simulator). If I stream with the new Xbo...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

GRID is on sale this week for $10 at the Microsoft Store. Many racing game aficionados who I respect praise this game as fun and said the demo -- which I thought SUCKED -- is not indicative of the retail game. So, petrolheads, of what previous racing game or franchise does the retail version of GRID...

Wow, I didn't want to start a new thread but macOS looks a lot like iOS/iPadOS. I can't say if I like it or not but just from the looks of it, you would think you are on an iPad. Apple also decided to change the number scheme to macOS 11. They also confirmed many of the rumors that they are dumping...

Re: Racing Sim Thread, Part II

Agree, Rod. I have no problem with DIRT 5 being the spiritual successor to Rallisport Challenge or even Sega Rally. Codemasters should focus on realism and the sim crowd with the DIRT Rally franchise and go over the top with ridiculous arcade fun with the DIRT series.

Re: Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

I LOVE the idea of a cheaper, discless Series X. I finally stopped buying games on disc last fall. Should have done it a year earlier. I don't own or watch Blu-Ray or DVD. Hell, does anyone? Netflix, Prime and other streamers rule the world. So, a cheaper, discless version would be mint for me. Your...
